Brilliant writeup with all the descriptions and photos. Something I should have done in the first place when I upgraded the ICE in my Ford Figo S after months of struggle. I had posted a query in the Figo Official review about the setup and the the niggles. Once i got my setup working after hit and trials, i ended up being lazy and posted just a brief with a photo of the setup. That's when SaiSw got in touch with me as he was looking for a similar setup but had no way to source the frame. I remember have a brief conversation with you too on the same. This is what i love about the forum.Useful information travels fast. Once I am back home let me share a few details of my experience and niggles(most of which have been resolved).

Re: My frustrating, yet fruitful journey of ICE'ing up my Ford Figo with the Pioneer DMH-Z6350BT

Man, I am really happy that HU has got a really good home with you! It served me nice and well when it was with me, though I really didn’t explore all its features like you seem to have. I bought it because it had wireless CarPlay, and good audio out put, though most of the audio’s magic was being handled by the Bit One DSP I had on my previous setup with the pioneer as the HU. That said, the capability of the HU did add power and oomph to my setup.

My wife really, really wanted the HU for her car. But I knew it would be wasted on her - she doesn’t understand the nuances of audio and only listens to FM. I told her that when we plugged out the HU, it was damaged and it’s with pioneer for repair. She remembers about it once in a while, and right now the story is that Pioneer is still repairing it, and that I am going to file a consumer court complaint because they are taking so long. If you ever meet her, please don’t mention that this is the same HU!

Truth be told, I was a little upset that I let the HU go for the price you paid - but no longer! I am really happy that it found you, and you it.

Now make me happier and install that sub that I let you have for even a better deal than the Pioneer. That Focal sub is pretty darn good, but it will need a mono amp + you’ll have to power your speakers with an amp as well.

Trust me on this - it’s faaaar better than any android HU.

And again, I hope it serves you long and well!

Cheers!

Re: My frustrating, yet fruitful journey of ICE'ing up my Ford Figo with the Pioneer DMH-Z6350BT

A few updates after 6 months-

1. Wireless Android Auto-

While I had complained about wireless AA getting disconnected frequently, after the initial month or so, the connection has become quite stable and hardly ever disconnects. Though there is one stretch of road on my way to work where the AA starts to lag and often disconnects.

2. Wireless CarPlay-

I have come to possess an old iPhone and have been able to use CarPlay. Gotta say, CarPlay is much smoother than Android Auto and even the resolution is much better. It does lag a bit on that particular stretch but never disconnects. While initially, I had my apprehensions about wireless AA and CP, I am a convert now.

3. In my earlier posts, I had complaint about the front camera and its limited usability. I have fixed that to some extent by using a bigger camera widget-

This is how my widgets were earlier-

As you can see, the bigger camera widget gives a much better view of the front. Also, the option to choose between the front and the back camera is visible on the widget itself. Earlier, I had to click on the small widget, go into the expanded view and then select the camera view(front or back).

4. The unit somehow, is unable to store radio stations. I don't listen to radio so it doesn't affect me much but may be a factor for someone who does.

5. Overall, I am very satisfied with the HU.

Re: My frustrating, yet fruitful journey of ICE'ing up my Ford Figo with the Pioneer DMH-Z6350BT

Hi, great setup you have done and am happy to see you are enjoying it. I own an aspire ambiente and since it didnt come with a stereo or anything my father installed a mp3 player in it. Here’s how it looks-

Since the last few years i too have got an itch for an upgrade since the fitting on the stereo is really poor and sound quality lacks as well. Originally i wanted the OEM one and was able to secure one (i have attached a pic of it) but the price quoted to me is 4000 + courier charges. I have some concerns whether it will be compatible with the ambiente model that i have and also 4k seems a bit much for the basic features like bluetooth. Then, i was considering the android screens that are available at a bit more prices with wired carplay and AA. I came across your thread and the hazard light switch not being fit properly triggers my ocd and the yes the UI is very cheap looking, iam now in a state of dilemma, could you please help me out

The OEM system of the Trend and the Titanium was officially available as an accessory for the lower variants. I am quite sure that the OEM system is compatible with the Ambiente. The only thing which you may wanna check is the connector on the inside and see if it matches the connector of the stereo(male to female). It should match most probably but I am not a 100% about it.

4K is a bit too much yes. It depends on your priorities. 4-5k for OEM look or 10-12k for an entry level Android with Carplay and Android Auto but poor aesthetics. I was clear that I'll not go for an Android or any 9 inch system no matter what.
