Heard the GZ Radioactive series sub in Amey's car in Mumbai... and the carbon series components as well. Trust me, you can't go wrong with either. I suggest you buy used if cash is a constraint, but don't skimp on quality. Or better still, start saving up Guess you still have some time before you'll be using Phoenix on a regular basis, so you can wait for a good deal.

Clarion HU!

The Clarion DXZ785USB head unit has arrived. Looks very nice in the metal/plastic!

Here are some unboxing pics. Sadly, the HU will have to go back into the box and wait patiently for the ICE upgrade to happen. This isn't going to happen in a hurry - currently sourcing the different components of the setup.

Sub? No, not decided yet. Will get a demo of an IDQ V2 soon. Hope to listen to a GZ Radioactive too. It's a good thing I have time in hand - can listen to different subs (and compos too) and look for good deals.
And save up over time so I can afford them...lol!

Its nice that you are auditioning different stuff.
Even in you audition the IDQ V2, do check the availability as they have been discontinued.

The pics (obviously the equipment as well) look brilliant.. even I'm considering clarion as an upgrade from Pio 7950, but the only thing that's holding me back is that clarion is 3 band EQ whereas pio is 7 band EQ. Any inputs?

Look at it slightly differently, @panky-ji, a Pio does not have TA, does it? Not at this price level at least. That would take care of better imaging.

Whether 3 or 7, EQ is best avoided if the rest of the chain (speakers, amp) is capable of giving the signature of your choice. If that is bad, no amount of EQ will help.

More like two. There's treble and bass.
And then, there's this P.Eq mode that says sedan, truck, etc. I just don't get it.

Its 7950 Flat generally, sometimes have to lower the treble! Never use the options like Super-bass/vocal etc.

Thats the sole reason to upgrade! Have easy access to US and dont think 140 $ is a big money.

Hi Razor did you buy the HU online at Sonicelectronix and get it shipped to India directly? If so how much did it cost you including duties?

Yes, I bought it on Sonix, but it wasn't delivered to India. My uncle carried it back to India with him.

Since you need it to lower the treble only, and clarion does have the HIghs option, it might not be too bad.
