Hi Hydra, we played around with the 9887 yesterday in an install and the unit is good for the price. The sound was detailed, open and midbass was signature Alpine. I would suggest you ask Zuheimi to do an ABX for you with your Blaupunkt before you upgrade though, as I thought the HU had a tendency to sound a bit sterile (non-warm). Oh and this unit has a flap down face, not a motorized one, which though not important, is unexpected for this price segment.

Cheers!

Thanks for the review and heads-up, Gunbir! I will do an ABX comparo.

About the flip-down face, its all right with me, as it is one less motorised/moving part to worry about

I'm a bit stuck with family commitments this week, and I've not even checked with them whether the unit has come or not :(
I hope I'll be able to check the HU out, and get the installation done this saturday.

Sounds good, see if you can also get your hands on a Kenwood 8xxx/9xxx series HU for the comparison. Enjoy!

The HU hasn't arrived yet. And I've had to travel a bit last week :( Will get the install done this weekend, most likely.

As I've mentioned before, fast food is bad for your health. I will not be able to see you ruining your health. Do you like orange juice?

I like Orange juice very much! Especially when it goes down with some good home made Pizzas. Who said we need fast food?

According to the dealer, 988 series will be here anytime. The first install will be yours' it seems. We will be looking forward to it!
