Re: Installed! Pioneer AVH-Z5090BT in my Honda City

Where does one connect the phone to enable android auto. Is it the same as the usb cable where one connects USB pen drives?

YEs. You also need Android Auto installed on your phone

Re: Installed! Pioneer AVH-Z5090BT in my Honda City

Have been trying to get AA work with my Honor 6x but I get the screen with "to use android auto please park your car and check your android phone" message and the phone goes to charging mode. Its running on Android 7. Any help will be appreciated.

Came across this thread and seems like an interesting option. I have a 2014 Honda City as well and had the following questions for you:

1. Mine is the V Variant and hence came with a OEM Reverse Camera which offers 3 views. Did the Reverse Camera integrate with seamlessly with the Pioneer Unit and will it provide all the views as well?

2. You mentioned that the Steering Mounted Controls were "botched up" in the initial thread. Did you get it fixed and is it working correctly?

3. Do you think there are better options today since your post dates to Sept 2017.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Installed! Pioneer AVH-Z5090BT in my Honda City

Can someone pls tell me what is the difference between AVH-Z5090BT and AVH-Z2090BT? 2090BT is around 4k cheaper i assume. Which one do you recommend (primary requirement being - access google maps, reverse camera and bluetooth)? Hope i have not hijacked the thread.

To give you a quick comparison between the two, please pick Z5090 as the screen is 7 inch and is both Android Auto and Apple Car play compatible.

Please check this - https://pioneer-india.in/products/compare/?p=274&p=275

Re: Installed! Pioneer AVH-Z5090BT in my Honda City

A quick update - the Bluetooth became very jerky & jittery when I moved to an Nokia 8.

The issue went away once I upgraded firmware twice. Now I am on V 8.32 and the Bluetooth works fine.

I have heard of issues with the iPhone Bluetooth as well but I am not sure if it is resolved by this.

The update process itself is quick & trouble free

Thanks for the suggestion. I bought 5090 and it works really awesome. Have used google maps, bluetooth, reverse camera and no issues so far.

How has it been to use the resistive touch screen? Have you faced any issues or frustrations?

Re: Installed! Pioneer AVH-Z5090BT in my Honda City

Have installed Z5090 BT on my 2005 Amaze , the HU brought in much needed relief. Other than occasional Bluetooth Jitter the HU has been outstanding. AA had issues with my old cable , with the cable switched its a breeze.
The only issue is the second hanging cable other than the OEM(pig tail connector) one. has any one able to resolve this?

Sorry about the delay in responding. I was traveling.

I had no OEM reverse fitted, so I can not comment on it.

I never got it to work. I had no time to go to my car guy again. It never worked and I know why it did not work - its due to the bad component used by my car guy. The problem I have is, it works while the car is static and the moment car moves, all the controls will go for a toss. Weird. I have stopped using in-built controls.

I have not checked recently but you must be having better options during 2018. At the least, dont touch any unit without a capacitive touch screen. Wait until such a unit is launched. No resistive touch units please.

Hi bsdbsd, can you try to set the Steering Mounted controls by using the Option 'W/O adapter and Japanese car' and see if that works?

I've set all the controls in that fashion and it works like a charm in my Baleno.

The only grouse that I've is the Bluetooth audio. Even after the latest firmware update to 8.32, the connectivity at times goes for a toss. I'm not sure if the incoming messages on Whatsapp are the culprit for connectivity loss!

Thanks for the nice suggestion. I will try it next week. I think the malfunction is due to the "learning steering wheel" logic/software. Once I enable the steering mounted controls, it works when the car is at a standstill. Once it starts moving, I think the "learning" component tries to "learn" something and wreaks havoc. The volume continues to increase or decrease. My car installer does reset the system and everything works in front of him. Once I start for home, this thing comes into the picture. . I will once gain try your advise and let you know how it goes.

Finally! In Mondays WWDC 2018, Apple announced that starting this fall (post September), iOS 12 supports third party navigation apps! Yay! Miracles do happen. This is indeed great news for all Apple CarPlay owners, especially in India. Well done Apple and Google.
