I did that Ganesh, and still having no luck!!

Also, the Camera is an aftermarket and I could not find the brand. The installer only wired the camera into the car and plugged it to an Adapter, before connecting the latter to the OEM headunit.

I'm afraid you'll have to take the car to the installer and isolate the issue(s).

First check if the camera is powered properly by testing the output using a male RCA cable (yellow jack) connected to a TV (yellow port) or another display. Usually power is tapped from the reverse light. When you engage reverse, the TV/display should indicate the rear view.

Next, how has he connected the RCA cable to the RCD 340 unit in your car? There's an adapter cable required for this:

(Image from AliExpress)

After this, and enabling the camera through VCDS, you should get the display on your headunit. The delay timer part comes next.

Did you not check the working of the camera before leaving the installer's place?

Really appreciate your time Ganesh in detailing the instructions

I know this installer personally and is an old acquaintance, so rest assured, there will be an assured resolution in terms of a fix or a full refund.

However, I will try out these steps with the installer in person over the weekend and update this thread.

Re: VW Polo/Vento : Replaced stock RCD320 with RCD330 Plus + rear view camera installation guide

Hi everyone. Need some help.

I recently installed RCD330G Plus by replacing my RCD320.

The system is the Desay automotive SV make 187A code.

I have observed that the stereo is heating up.

Not to the extent that I cannot touch the screen but I surely know that the system is heating up.

Till now, I have only used it continuously for 1 hour but not more than that.

If anyone could shed some light on the matter. The fuse seems to be fine.

Should I continue using it. I am scared of burning up wires inside.

Could probably be a PAL NTSC issue. The original RCD 340 (Visteon etc.) Headunit needs a PAL system camera. If you are using an NTSC Camera (Most aftermarket shops), then it won't work on the original headunit.

Chinese RCDs have often required NTSC cameras. Replacing the camera for you should solve the issue provided all the components are working fine and hoping all the other wiring and Delay Timer, Connectors, Power Tapping from the Reverse Light have been successfully completed.

Thanks

Hi! It's mostly certainly the RCD340 which was sold on a December 2020 MY 2021 Polo. Here are pictures from my October built car radio, but I'm sure there has been no radio revision for the December built car either. Any specific query you wish to ask?

Really late to this trend but I was wondering if there are any trusted workshops/mod shops in Mumbai that can get this upgrade done? I'm not a technical guy at all and hesitate with any DIY that requires opening up the car etc and therefore would rather want someone professional doing this.

Would really appreciate your inputs!

It is a fairly easy job. You can find various videos on Youtube which would really help you in doing this.

You can trust yourself on this one.

Re: VW Polo/Vento : Replaced stock RCD320 with RCD330 Plus + rear view camera installation guide

Hello everyone,

I am a little late to this discussion but quick help would be helpful.
I am replacing my stock head unit on my 2016 highline. The stock was RCD320. My friend is giving me his stock 2020 highline plus head unit which is a 187C series RCD340?
I have steering mounted controls but no reverse camera. Do I need to purchase an additional Canbus connector or is it a direct swap?
I will be purchasing the unit from him today so any replies are appreciated.

You will need an ISO to Quadlock connector for you to be able to install the new head unit. Some RCD 320s are direct swap but your model will require this connector.

Re: VW Polo/Vento : Replaced stock RCD320 with RCD330 Plus + rear view camera installation guide

Anyone got any info on how to install the number plate light reverse camera in the Polo ?
It has the RCD 330 or 340 - I'm not sure which and don't see a marking anywhere or info in the settings menu.
It has Android Auto.

I got the small quad lock connector and the reverse delay timer. The installation guys were unable to get the display to show up on the head unit after trying for quite a while.
Does it absolutely need to be enabled via VCDS ?

Where does the delay timer fit in ? They couldn't figure this out either and kept it aside.

They insisted that some canbus adapter is required to get it working. Would that work better ?

Re: VW Polo/Vento : Replaced stock RCD320 with RCD330 Plus + rear view camera installation guide

Apologies for the double post but I couldn't edit the previous one to include some new stuff.

I have attached a picture of everything I have in the camera and wiring kit. Can someone please explain the wiring step by step in detail as though I am 5 starting from the camera module and working backwards to the head unit ?

The installers couldn't get it working and had no idea how to integrate the Delay Timer module so I will need to explain it to them.

What I know is :

1) DVI out from camera via extension cable connects to quad lock cable which plugs directly into the head unit.

What do I connect the red and black cable on the camera unit to ?

Where do the red wires at both ends of the DVI extension cable connect to ?

The 3 wires on the delay timer connect to any Ground point, Reverse light +ve and an Accessory power line in the fuse box or head unit cable itself.

Where in the circuit does the other side of the delay timer connect ? It has a barrel jack. Does that need to be cut off and wires connected to the black and red wires of the camera module ?

I'm assuming the small green and white wires on the camera module need to be cut if required to flip the image and enable/disable the grid lines right ?

I would also appreciate it if someone could let me know which all settings need to be changed in VCDS because I have seen several different ones in videos and I am extremely new to VCDS so I don't want to mess anything up.
The head unit is from a 2018 Polo GT with the big screen and Android Auto and Carplay. It's most likely an R 340 as per the manual.

Oh and as a bonus could someone tell me how to delete my phone from the headunits list of BT connections ? I find it's constant attempts at pairing annoying right now and have ordered a Wireless AA dongle which I will set up later. I have unpaired it on my phone and want to delete it from the list on the head unit along with the previous owner's phones.

I would appreciate a quick reply as I wish to get this sorted by this weekend.

To the output from the delay timer unit. I think your delay timer has a female jack of sorts judging by the image.

The easiest way to sort this out is to connect the yellow RCA jack from the camera to your TV to test if everything is working. Before you hook it up to your car.

Leave them disconnected.

Not sure of this.

Refer this post - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-e...ml#post4114743 (VW Polo/Vento : Replaced stock RCD320 with RCD330 Plus + rear view camera installation guide)

The VCDS part is mentioned.

Please refer this post where I’ve shared how I’ve connected the DIY delay timer. Should give you an idea.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-...ml#post4884811 (VW Polo GT TDI ownership log EDIT: 9 years and 178,000 km later...)

Remember, you need to connect the positive input to the delay timer from the positive of the reverse light bulb.
