AFAIK, Ameo's got the same RCD 330G, with the RVC added. I haven't got a chance to see the connections of Vento's HU, but I am sure it would support the RVC that Ameo has. I dont think VW will provide different HU in Vento and Ameo.
If you see pictures, you will notice that both HU's are the same.
Thanks.

Yes I agree that both are the same but at this time there is no point in upgrading HU if it doesn't have RVC. You get my point right. I'm very much happy with RCD320 and it's sound quality but if 330G support RVC then I will upgrade to that or else 510 may be.
Thanks for the info.

Re: Review: RCD 330G. VW's 2016 Head-Unit for the Polo, Vento & Ameo

For those who are looking for the RCD 330G, here's some info.

- It uses the same quadlock connector as that of the RCD 510.

RCD 330G rear:

RCD 510 rear:

- It is possible to connect the camera to the unit. Just like in the Ameo:

- Displays the ParkPilot screen which supports 8 sensors (4 rear + 4 front) if the PDC module has canbus connections; the current Polo does not have this. In all probability the Vento and Ameo doesn't as well:

- The unit doesn't ask for a pin code apparently unlike the RCD 510 which does.

- This unit does not seem to send any information to the maxidot cluster.

- There are multiple vendors manufacturing this unit - Harman is one (made in Hungary), there's a Chinese vendor as well. Not sure which one goes into the Indian Polo/Ameo.

Thats really good news. I really miss the visual information. Any more info on how the RVC and Park pilot can be enabled would help. Also is it possible to have the actual distance displayed ?

On a different note, When my Blackberry is paired with the HU, I am able to read the SMS also. Nice feature. Would have been good (though slightly dangerous) if they could support reading mail as well.

You need to change the PDC unit in your car. The earlier generation Polo used to come with PDC units which had canbus connections so the signals are relayed to the HU. The newer Polo has a non-canbus PDC unit and thus it only provides beeps. The unit is located in the rear right of the boot behind the tail light. Pull out the boot liner and you'll see it.

As for the RVC, it looks like an RGB camera. I'll find out more details from the web and share it here. The HU doesn't have any separate port for the camera input. There's just a quadlock connector and the radio aerial connector.

With this HU, you cannot. I've seen some Android based HUs do that. Even the Blaupunkt Philadelphia 835 displayed the distance.

The good thing about this HU is, the BT interface is a lot better than the RCD 320. It displays the phonebook, contact information and lets you dial using the keypad on the screen as well.

To replace the RCD 320 with this unit, would we need items 4, 5 & 6 mentioned in your RCD 510 DIY thread?

Also, in some of the RCD 330 listings in AliExpress, the sellers are bundling an "AV rear vew camera plug" with the HU for the RVC functionality. Is this plug available separately?

That's different from the RCD510, which has a separate connector port for the camera. It's a yellow color port if I remember correctly.

Yup it's an rgb camera. All you need is this.

Look what I found on AliExpress
http://s.aliexpress.com/qqueAvEb

Retrofitting a rvcam is much cheaper in this unit.

And this is how you convert a pdc to ops

http://www.my-gti.com/739/upgrading-...ing-system-ops

Now all we need is sometime with some time in their hands to try this out.

Hope this clears out RVC connector for RCD-330G.

OEM RCD-330G with RVC connector

It seems cheap but as you suggested we don't know about it being chinese made or HARMAN made.

Doesn't work with the Polo, Vento and the likes since we do not have a separate gateway unit like the Laura/Jetta. The gateway is built into the BCM.

On a related note, any idea how is the RVC connected in an Ameo? Looked at their site, and the model looks similar, with a picture of the camera image.

Has any one managed to obtain a RCA preout or digital out from the stock headunits, wondering if this can be possible with the RCD330G.

I guess it's not possible with factory HU. RCA Converter is the only option available right now. I installed JBL subwoofer and 2-channel amplifier to stock RCD-320 with the help of RCA converter only.

Thus we don't get full performance for subwoofers or speakers. In fact some shop guys insist to change HU for full performance of subwoofers or speakers.

They have a valid point there I guess.

So I managed to get mirror link and also google maps working on my backup phone - a rooted xperia z. Even the home screen works so basically any app will work.

Just to add - the touch response is a bit slow compared to the phone but very manageable. The phone also charges while mirror link is active.

Here's some photos attached:

Wow that's great. One can root his device and use it for maps or videos etc while on the move. I wish there was similar tweak to connect iPhone with this HU. Great work brother. US version gets Apple CarPlay also.

P.S - I guess you have custom ROM (may be Cynogenmod if I'm not wrong).
