If you are looking for rear sensor display, please make sure that the rear sensors in your GT have park assist function. In the facelift version of GT TSi, the reverse sensor only has the beep sound indication. It does not have park assist function that is required for RCD510 integration.

In case your car does not have the park assist function, then make sure you get the RCD510 with the reverse camera video input and install a reverse camera.

I too was planning to go for RCD510 + 9W2 combo for bluetooth, reverse parking sensor integration and the OEM look. However, I found (thanks to FrankMehta and Gannu) that my car does not have park assist and hence ordered an android HU instead.

Re: VW Polo DIY: Delphi RCD 510 headunit + 9W7 Bluetooth unit installation

Hi Gannu,

I have a question about the mic. In my Polo GT TSi, the stock mic that came with the Android HU is not of great quality. The position is also not ideal. I am thinking of upgrading the cabin light assembly to the one you upgraded. This light assembly has a proper slot for microphone.

I found the following part number for the microphone that sits in the slot.

RCD510/RNS510 Mic

I can cut away the connector and solder a shielded cable and route this to the Android HU. However, I have one doubt. Will the mic be compatible with the android HU. Do you have any idea on this?

It should work. The OEM mic has 2 terminals/wires just like a regular mic. If your android HU has a mic input slot with just 2 terminals, this will work.

No the mic is specific to vw hu like RCD 510. I had tried this but found a solution where you need to disable the mic circuit by soldering onto the driver. I am using the mic with pioneer f60-bt. It should with any headunit after this. I can post images but by tomorrow.

Thanks Gannu. Yes. The Android HU has a 3mm mono phono jack with 2 wires for the mic. I have ordered the OE mic and reading lamp unit. Will update how this went after the install.

Thanks a lot, Sunil. It would be great if you can share details on where I should solder the wire on the RCD510 mic to make it work with other regular HUs.

PS: I had edited my previous post and added a reply to your post yesterday night, but for some reason, it did not get updated. Just noticed it and posting again.

Hi Ganesh,
I have recently upgraded the RCD300 PLUS to Delphi RCD 510 in my 2012 Jetta comfortline Tdi. Everything works in the 510 except OPS. My car is equipped with both front and rear parking sensors. I can't figure out the reason behind it.
Also when I connected the vcds and clicked '56-Radio' it says 'No response from controller'. Why it's not working. What's the solution?

Was the key turned to ACC (accessories) when you checked the radio in VCDS? As for the OPS display, maybe the OPS module is not CANBUS compatible like in the current generation Polo/Vento. Your OPS module is located behind the instrument cluster.

Do you get the climatronic display when you change the blower or temperature settings?

Yes the key was turned to ACC when connected. My car is not equipped with Automatic climate control. So there is no display

Hi Gannu,

I have a July 2012 Vento TDi, which originally came with the RCD 310 with the USB slot (media in) in the glove box. I swapped it with an RCD 510 Bosch unit last year and also added the 9W7 bluetooth module a few weeks back. Everything works fine, expect for the media in option (all other sources like the CD changer, SD Card and Bluetooth streaming work perfectly fine). The media in plays at a very low volume (Media in at its highest volume is barely equivalent to maybe 2 levels above minimum volume for all other options).

Have you come across any such issue being mentioned by anybody anywhere else? Do you have any suggestions to solve this?

Thanks in advance.
Vivek

I have a 2010 Jetta with an rcd510 unit and mfsw. How difficult or easy is it to fix a Bluetooth module for the same? Do I need any extra items apart from just the Bluetooth module ?

Re: VW Polo DIY: Delphi RCD 510 headunit + 9W7 Bluetooth unit installation

I've recently fitted the 9W7 kit in my Laura L&K, which has the Columbus HU as stock. While the install went off well and the Bluetooth functionality is working beautifully, I have experienced a very weird problem post install with the car's Optical parking sensor (OPS). The L&K comes with front and rear OPS and I find this to be a very useful feature. Post install, the fronts work fine but it seems that the rear sensor displays have got swapped on the HU! So the left sensor signal shows up on the right in the HU display and vice versa. I have not been able to find anyone who has faced a similar issue in this/other forums. I will be doing a scan and reset using VAG COM and hope this can be done soon. Meanwhile, can anyone share any insights/potential fixes for this? The obvious answer is that the wiring somehow has got swapped while connecting the intermediate connector. But I've used the VAG OEM quad-lock connector harness, so there was no scope for any such swapping to take place!! Any ideas, please do share. Thanks!

Was your rear bumper repaired or replaced? Because this issue happens only if the connectors at the sensors have been interchanged mistakenly. Please remove the bumper the replace the connectors for these sensors. The quadlock connector has nothing to do here.

If the OPS unit is at a more accessible location such as the rear trunk pocket, detach the respective terminals for these connectors and swap them. The OPS unit for the Jetta is located on the front dashboard deep behind the cluster. Not sure where it is in the Laura.

The bumper wasn't repaired/replaced after I bought the car. At the time of buying I had noted that the bumper had dents and scratches and the right parking sensor had fallen into the recess. Dealer had fixed all that and delivered the car. I had not faced the left/right reversal issue all these days. The only change thereafter was fitting the 9w7 kit. I'm quite surprised by this to be frank.

I believe the OPS unit is in fact in the trunk (behind left side trim) based on this manual I found:
http://workshop-manuals.com/skoda/oc...trol_unitj446/

Would be easier to do than removing the bumper I guess. But how would I know which wires/terminals need to be switched? Do you have a diagram handy? Keep in mind this is the OPS unit with both front and rear sensors (assuming this is a different one than the rear only).
