Re: DIY: Adding a USB port to the Ford Figo

Alas, I'll have to stick to CD and Aux playback. Funny, they are making different models of the same HU. Unnecessary inventory costs for savings of a few Rupees. Same thing with the Head/Fog light switches. They have given an only rear fog light switch instead of a Front/rear combination switch for saving a few bucks. Has anyone changed his Classic combination switch? I want to change mine to a Front/rear fog lamp combination switch.

I remember someone changed the switch in Fiesta CLXi (??? I'm not sure about the variant) but couldn't recall if it was posted in a dedicated thread or in the ownership thread.

I have Fiesta Classic LXi. While booking I opted for front fog lamps from the showroom. Costed me Rs 4500. I was told this includes the switch.
So for the models without fog lamps, is there only a single pull?

Re: DIY: Adding a USB port to the Ford Figo

Yes glenmz, they are giving the combination switch as single pull for rear. The double pull for rear/front switch is available separately in which case you will have to discard the original fitted switch!! The double pull switch is provided only in Titanium as this has fog lamps fitted as standard. I believe the harness is there in the Clxi but the wires are not connected to the switch as there are no points in the switch for front fogs. This I have to verify if someone can guide me on how to pull the switch out.

Re: DIY: Adding a USB port to the Ford Figo

Guys, I remember reading the name of connector for adding USB is 'mini ISO' (please correct me if I'm wrong) Is it available easily? I got a request from another friend to make a USB cable for his 2011 Figo Titanium, so this time I would prefer a more professional output.

Can you post the picture of the HU?!

Sounds weird of actually having the AUX button but no point to insert the cable!

Can you post the snap of your HU?

Hi,

Attached the pics. Please do share your inputs, if there is something that can be done it would be wonderful, burning CD's and handling them is such a pain.

It should be possible as pressing the AUX button toggles between other source & AUX. Similar model (not the same) HU was used in Ford Focus and earlier generations came without AUX input but Ford supplied the cables separately in European markets.

I remember the later gen Fiesta in India did came with same HU & AUX port. Do check the rear connectors, if there is any port left out it is a matter of few bucks and a simple DIY to get the AUX working.

Ford radios since 2004 have proprietory inputs for Sat radio/External CD Changer at the rear. This is the input chosen when you select AUX. There are also models that have an AUX button, but when you press it display shows - 'No Aux'. Since yours is showing Aux, it means that you have the input at the rear but you need the proper adapter to access it.

Check if the connectors are something similar to this.

Hi,

Gave up on the plan, as it is my other car, which is in my hometown, only drive it when I go down, this time had driven it down to Bangalore, felt the CD's required to be changed way too soon . Will be taking it back soon, got a load of CD's ready

One of the reason behind giving up on it is also because I am not too sure how to take the HU out

In case it is easy to take the HU out please let me know, or whether if I take it to an accessory shop here in BLR, would they be able to do it for me.

In the morning I called the person at Autoworld or was it Audio point, behind Koromangala, he clearly told me, there is no way it can be done, the only crude method is to use the FM transmitter.

Regards
Shailesh

You need these special keys to take the HU out (available in eBay for less than $5)

Or accessory shops could do it.

I have the same exact unit as posted by Anurag and have been wanting to fix an Aux cable. Unfortunately Ford doesn't provide that and I believe there was an earlier thread on the same. I know for sure it can be done as a guy working in Ford mentioned it would cost around 1800. Let me see if I can take a picture of the rear side of the unit and send it over to you, to get your expert views.

We may need an adapter as detailed in the below link
