Dear ICE gurus, wanted your advice on adding a low profile subwoofer in a Thar with little room to add anything else. I have 2 choices currently, please do add your advice if these are suitable and what am I missing on? Can one make a custom subwoofer box and separate amplifier to fit in the space available?
Any first hand experiences on a low profile sub will be great.
Current Setup: Installed at Driven, Delhi (they did a super job)
Pioneer Bluetooth Head Unit: MVH-X365BT

(it does have a sub out)
Kicker DS 652 series speakers/tweeters, mounted on the front doors, damp mat installed on both doors.

Space available below driver seat: W13", L14", H4.5" (I have a custom mounted Scorpio seat so other Thar owners please measure your seats, this is not a reference!)
I do 10 hour long solo drives on the highway every other week or so, and at 90-100kms/hr the road noise competes with the low end of the music quite a bit. I am missing out on a bit of clean thump, the Kicker series speakers are awesome and even rattle the rear view mirrors, but the bass can get distorted when high enough.
So finally I do want to add in a subwoofer, but I can't have a usual box/tube setup as my rear compartment is used as a dual use cargo/passenger hold, and I have a double folding seat so all the space can be used for cargo, leaving no space for a subwoofer in the rear.
After enough research, it seems that an under seat low profile active subwoofer 8" - 10" size can do the job decently, the bass will be nice enough for the passengers/driver but will not rattle the street, and thats fine.
From what I gather only a few low profile active subs available in India are
1. The Blaupunkt XLF 200a, 12-14k
http://www.snapdeal.com/product/blau...200-a-8/651016
Its a class D amplifier, and an 8" sub, the ratings on Amazon are quite good
2. The Xenos Tusker 270, 10k, Tusker 360 15k
http://xenos.co.in/home-car-entertainment-sub-woofer
Its a rebadged no-name Chinese product for sure, and the larger RMS class D rated model is for 15k, but honestly for that price I rather get the known Blaupunkt.
In the US one can also consider the Soundstorm, Boss or the Kicker Hideaway, but the import cost, and shipping cost due to weight and the lack of warranty rules them out
