Ordered and received the SJ4000 through cart2india.Though the price was on the higher side{10k} they offer COD.
The video quality is superb. However cant say the same about still shots.
Took it about 2m underwater. No issues so far.
I received my shipment (SJCAM SJ4000 WiFi model) from AliExpress on 16th September (the order date was 16th August). The packing was excellent (the seller wrapped the box in a bubble wrap in multiple layers) and he's kind enough to declare the item as a gift and quote a lower value.
And I'll reserve my comments for the time being and will share the detailed inputs in a few days time, hopefully :)
Poor man's Go Pro :D
A sample video recording : (You can download the original uncompressed file from Dropbox -

I trimmed this 15 seconds video (file size -33.1 MB) from a 1417 seconds long video (file size - 2.62 GB). I used VideoPad free software for trimming http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ug7T...ature=youtu.be

Please do add some photos of the camera mounted in your car when you post more details.
The video looks good. If possible, please add a video from a drive in the city during night (will give us better idea of a how the video will be on Indian roads during night).
The SJ4000 looks good. I was about to order the same from Aliexpress, but noticed that the SJ5000 was up for pre order as well. Now I await reviews of the purported successor.

Hi, have some queries :-
Does this have loop recording function? In the description shown at various sites I have not seen this mentioned.
Did you order the car suction mount and charger separately?
How much did the customs duty come out to be?
Thanks.
So going through the last 14 pages, I figured that SJ4000 > SJ1000, at least for my use since I plan to use it even when riding. How does the SJ4000 compare with the Mobius? Also, does SJ4000 work well as a dashcam, overwriting the footage with the new one?
This seems to be the cheapest:

Yes, it does everything a SJ1000 can.
As for mobius, I would consider mobius better because of the amazing firmware support the community has, and after market accessories. But if you want an action cam with mounts and all, then SJ4000 is an out of the box solution. It also fits in many GoPro mounts.
To sum it up, if you are a hacker, then its mobius, however, if you want something no frills out of the box, then its the SJ4000
I have ordered the sj4000 and looking to order a USB car charger with 2 slots. Tons of options online. Any specification I need to watch out for? Need to ensure it charges the sj4000 and also my mobile? Also, can I keep the charger always connected when the cam is working?
Hi,
Received mine yesterday, cost me around 134 SGD, cheaper options were also available, say around 90 SGD, but was not sure of them being authentic.
The one that I got does not have a suction mount, can anyone share how to go about it, how to install it, without getting a "shaky" recording.
Regards
Shailesh
SJ1000 received. Super excited. One query though - I couldn't attach the camera to the suction cup mount. Somehow I am unable to flip the multifunctional clip after attaching camera to it. I unscrewed two pins with the tools provided, but the clip doesn't open up. Any idea, anyone?
Note: The MMI is not a part of the package

I have currently fixed it on dash with the 3M double side tape. Video is stable (clip above). But this is temporary. I did this because of a mess up in the order which resulted in me not getting the suction mount. Will be reordering and getting it next week.
Pretty impressed with the cam. Most folks among friends and family think it is a waste of money purchase and makes no sense. But I explained that you never know when the lens picks up something interesting. For example the below pictures which I was able to grab from the video.

Can you please share the URL from AliExpress for the seller? Also do you have to explicitly tell the seller to ship it at a lower value or he does it anyway? Thanks!
Mod Note : Please quote ONLY the relevant bits of a post. Quoting a full, long post inconveniences our mobile readers.
Thanks!

I had shared the links to the product page in my previous post. I'm sharing it again ;
SJ4000 with WiFi
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/prod...016716076.html
Car charger + windshield suction mount -*
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Car-h...744161930.html
The seller I bought from declares the value of the product as USD21 (normal shipping) and USD48 (DHL). The declaration value depends on the seller ; usually they mention it explicitly in the product page.
I asked the seller to declare it as a gift and quote a lower price to be on the safer side :D
Noticed that the SJ4000 Dash Cam interferes with the FM Radio. This is only noticeable in places where the FM signal is weak (Example as you drive away from Bangalore). It is not noticeable within the city. When I drove to kerala this time with the Dash Cam, noticed I was not getting FM reception in areas where I typically get when on the Bangalore-Calicut Highway. It was fine within Bangalore and within Calicut City.
Anybody else facing such a issue? I have a Blaupunkt Philadelphia 835 AVN system in my Vento. The Dashcam is connected to the 12V port via a dual USB charger that outputs 2.4V.
Just back from a trip to Kumaon. I must say SJ1000 did its job perfectly. What a dashcam!!!
The clarity of the videos are fantastic, specially if you connect the laptop to an HDTV using HDMI cables. The wide angle is an icing on the cake.
Highly recommended.:thumbs up
