Today I used a different AUX cable and connected my mobile to the HU to play songs.

Unfortunately the audio was distorted like before.

I think there is some thing rong with my HU. Need to take it to the service(

What type of distortion did you get with the mobile? It is unlikely that the HU is at fault.

Re: Tata Aria ICE Redefined

The aria console looks much better now. I own a pride too. Not really happy with the bluetooth phone quality and navigation. Planned to change the HU with a touch navigation but unable to find brackets/panels to fit the new HU into it. Though most manufacturers have panels to help replace the stock HU i was unable to find one for Aria How did you manage that specially when the 4X4 and other buttons are integrated with the stock HU?

Hi! Thank you so much for the appreciations.

There was a great hardwork and research behind it.

Note!
Don’t ever relied on the technicians. you will end up with cutting wires and poor setup.

If you are not a techy guy. Then take your car to the good car accessory shop and get your job done in front of you.

I tried for the faceia for atleast 3months. It was not available in my reach.

With the help of my brother Dr.Kiran bhokray. I could manage to get the faceia fabricated with MDF.
Thanks to his excellent orthopedic skills.

When you pullout the infotainment system from the dash. You can notice the 4x4 buttons fixed to the infotainment system with 2 screws.

The buttons has an harness to unplug.

Remove the screws and fix it from behind to the fabricated faceia.

I dint use the screws. Instead I used tape to stick it from behind.

After fabricating the faceia the next biggest challenge is the HU wireing harness and the steering wheel controls.

The aria comes with an quadlock connector which is used in most of the European cars.

I tried searching for the connector adaptor for a month. and end up my search with no result.

Thanks to mr.srinivasan. manager at blaupunkt india.

He guided me to source an quadlock connector adaptor.
Which costed me 4800INR.

To use this adaptor you need to pullout a ACC wire. That can be done from a amp if you have one in your car. Or from a nearest cigarette lighter socket.

The canbus interface adaptor is working great. All my steering wheel controls are working.

Goodluck. feel free to ask me any thing about the setup.

It's been a long time since you updated this thread. Have you done any more mods to the setup?

Re: Tata Aria ICE Redefined

hi. am sorry for not keeping this thread active.
However I am going to keep this thread live from now on since am making some changes in my setup.
Friends am exchanging my ford icon with an tata zest soon.
So I will be removing amp and sub from it.
I am planning to install this amp in my aria.
The amp is JBL GT 5-644.
and the amp which is already installed in my aria is JBL GTO504.
That is powering a pair of polk coaxial speakers and a focal 10inch sub.
My question is how best I can make use of this second amp in my car.
}will it be nice if I power the sub with GT 5-644 since it has power rating of 800w. And use the GTO504 to power one more pair of the new component speakers which I will be install if needed in my back doors.
I don't want to change the front speakers cause they have wonderful SQ. they are stock fitted component speakers.
Need your advice.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Tata Aria ICE Redefined

Hey i re-started my Fascia/panel plate search in June again. Reason being the Bluetooth USB and Aux stopped functioning in OEM stereo. So i finally decided to get rid of it and install a touch screen stereo. Called up almost all tata dealers and accessories shops in NCR for HU panel but in vain. Could not find someone interested in customizing one. I had almost given up all hopes and suddenly today i bumped upon it!!!!!!. You know where?? Amazon India.

http://www.amazon.in/DHC-Stereo-Installation Tata Aria

Ordered it within next 5 seconds and eagerly awaiting delivery.

Through Fascia/panel is the smallest step of ICE installation, for Aria Owners its was a battle half won.

Now the next big question comes; HU? which one?

I shortlisted a few basic dual din with bluetooth function and steering support

a. Pioneer FH-X779BT
b. Sony Wx 900 BT
c. Blaupunkt New Jersey 220 BT
each costing Rs 9-10k Approx

What i will miss is navigation. I am currently using Google map in my android device, and addicted to it. I simply cannot do without real time traffic updates in NCR

What to do for navigation?
Option a: Continue using google maps on android mobile
Option b: Install HU with Mirrorlink support
Option c: Android Auto HU

The cheapest Mirrorlink HU i could find was
Sony - XAV-712BT (Dealer Price Rs 20K). However online reviews are mixed due connectivity issues with non Sony android devices.

Android Auto HU are beyond my budget.
http://www.amazon.in/Pioneer-AVH-X8890BT costing north of Rs 40K

Another option is to use Wifi mirror box with non touch display. Its solves all my purposes in the most economical way

Graaja's Thread Android HU for Polo
inspired me to search options on Aliexpress and i shortlisted three of them.

1. Pumpkin Android 5.1 HU 7 inch

2. Joying android 5.1 HU 7 Inch

3.Pumpkin android 5.1 10.1 Inch

I am finding these Android HU quite lucrative. Compatibility of these units with Aria is another issue that needs to be discussed with sellers

I wish to retain the stock speakers. Amp and Speakers are planned for later

Opinion and comments invited

Hey thank you so much for the link. I got some questions about this product.
1) is it made for the pride model? Because pride has few extra buttons on it.
2) will it come with all the screws needed to be fixed in the dash?

It sounds little pricey but I wouldn't feel bad to spend money on it if it sits perfectly in the dash.

I advice you to not to spend money on the Chinese Head units, they sound worst and inaccessible warranty is an issue.

I have Blaupunkt installed in my car and what I don't like is its user interface. When ever you go back to change the folder, the list starts from the beginning. You got to scroll all the way down to find the folder you want to play, and it becomes a problem if you are going to have a bit list of folders in your USB.

Sony never pleased my ears. Again, its my ears. Please listen to the demo may be you may like it. Also try listening to JVC and Alpine.

Please note, you need to buy a canbus interface in order to use steering wheel controls with your HU.

Keep us updated.
wishes

Got delivery of the installation kit a few days back. It is made of acrylic. Spoke to the seller DHC. He says it's custom made for Aria Pride.
It has all the appropriate cuts for the 4x4 and parking switch buttons.
It's a press fit thing, no screws

Did some research again for the head unit. The one that fills all my criteria is the Pioneer android auto HU costing 48000 INR. Its way out of my budget and makes no sense in a 5 year old car. Its better to spend on a decent amp and speakers.

Ruled out mirror link HU. It had connectivity issues with my Nexus phone. Seems to have mood swings when connected to an android device. Works well with Sony smart phone though but I have no plans of going for a Sony mobile any time soon.

The chinese HU had bad reviews on Amazon.com so ruled out

Thank you for the pre warning.

I am left with two choices.
A. Basic HU like Sony wx 900BT
B. Touch screen one like yours

I have a few quick questions that can help me decide.

1. Does the Aria's OEM rear camera work with TATA display after the HU is swapped?

2. How do you adjust the date and time of the Tata display?

3. Is the canbus adaptor specific for Aria or the universal one's for European car s will do?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

First thing I would like to tell you is, please think again before you put money on Sony, they don't really sound good.

Second thing is, if you still want all the features under 25k then you can consider Caska.

Its a Chinese brand but still better than the Sony's sound, and comes with an warranty in india.

Now coming to the point.
1. yes the OEM camera will still work with the OEM screen.
2. You have to set the date and time using the stock HU before you pull out the cables.
3. Am not sure about the Canbus interface, but on my box its written Sony, JVC and Blaupunkt.

All the best and keep us updated.

If OEM camera is working I will prefer to go for a basic dual din with BT and steering support

The choices shortlisted are
a. Pioneer FH-X779BT
b. Sony Wx 900 BT
c. Blaupunkt New Jersey 220 BT
d. Alpine W265EBT

Most accessories shops retail one or two brands but willing to arrange others.
It is difficult to get a demo of all at the same time.

I was not able to find alpine online. Not sure if it available in india.
I have to make a choice between Pioneer, Blaupunkt and Sony.

Consider replacing Sony with Alpine.
Trust me, Sony car audio sounds worst.
Also check out Caska. they got models under 30k. With all the advance features.
So what did you plan for the Speakers?

1. Sony ruled out.

2. Spoke to a Stereo installer today. He says the basic Dual din ( Like Sony wx 900BT) will need an adaptor for steering controls. Total cost will be close to 13000 INR. (9500 for stereo + 3500 for Canbus adaptor)

2. He is pushing me for touch screen ones. His version is these stereos do not require canbus adaptor now a days and steering wheel function can be taught to these stereo.
Can anyone confirm that adaptor is not needed for touch screens dual din?

3. He is recommending me Blaupunkt Las Vegas 530 and JVC KW V21 BT

4. How good are JVC-Kenwood Stereos vis-a-vis Blaupunkt?

5 I liked the neat layout of JVC-KW vs the rotary knob for Blaupunkt.

he is wrong, you definetly neet a Canbus interface.

Kenwood sounds much better than the JVC and Blaupunkt,
I would go with JVC as a second option since I don't like the Blaupunkt's
UI.

And finally I appreciate your decision about Sony.

JVC and Kenwood is the same company Isn't it so?
All JVC stereo start with KW.... I thought KW stands for Kenwood
