Hey how long does this last if used continuously? 6 hrs?
My dashcam required 5V 2.5A minimum to run.
Also does this support pass through charging ie charging the power bank when its powering the dash cam? Was planning to get a 27000 mah power bank which can run for 9-10 hrs.

I have a feeling that the reason could be the intense heat and my parking the car facing the sun in an open parking lot.

I will avoid parking there and instead use the covered MLCP at office.

Never found any issues in connecting the dashcam to my phone. App is ok too. Not fancy and and smooth, but not buggy and lagging that might frustrate one.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

After getting the delivery of the Thar Roxx in December last year it was time to buy the accessories. The most important being the dashcam.

Roxx comes with SVM which can record the videos from the 360 degree cams. There are many limitations to it be an alternative of a dashcam.
1. No way to take the footage out of the system.
2. The video is distorted and quality not that good.
3. Only 32GB capacity.

For this reason I decided to go with a proper dashcam. My requirements were following:

1. No battery, supercapacitor only
2. Around 10K
3. Front & Rear cams
4. Decent video quality
5. Small size and clean installation
6. Parking monitoring

I shortlisted 2 dashcams Qubo 3K Dual dashcam and Redtiger F9 4K Dual dashcam. They both were providing onsite installation service which I preferred as I didn't want local mechanic to do the hardwiring.
I contacted Redtiger support and the person suggested to get the installation done from local mechanic instead of availing their service to save my money. This was not what I expected from a company support.

This left me with Qubo. I contacted the Qubo support. The sales executive explained me the process. First I had to buy the dashcam and hardwiring kit. After the delivery(4-5 days) I had to fill a form and pay for the installation.
The installation was to be done in 2-3 days.

The dashcam + hardwiring kit cost me Rs 11317 and installation amount was Rs 1674.

The dashcam + hardwiring kit was delivered in 2 days via Bluedart. The installation took another 2 days.

The electrostatic sticker got wasted as the person didn't clean the glass properly, leading to lot of bubbles. Other than that things went smoothly.

I have put the front cam at location where both the sides of bonnet is covered.

Overall the experience was good. Although, I can't say how good was the installation due to my lack of knowledge.

My main concern is

1. The fuse tap(AT ECU B+ 15A for VCC and INF ACC/RR US 10A for ACC) used

2. The routing of the rear camera wire under the side airbag. I have attached the photos and videos.

Can someone with adequate knowledge take a look and confirm if the installation is ok?

Curious to know from all North India/Delhi NCR Battery based dashcam users: Have you faced any kind of issues in peak summers with battery based dashcam? If yes, what type of problems or observations you have, specially in peak heat seasons

Crude way of tapping the power from fusebox.
Switch to a proper fusetap.

Thanks for the feedback. Sad to see that even after paying around Rs 1700 Qubo didn't do a proper work. This was the whole point of me paying extra to them so that I could get a decent job done.

A fusetap is inexpensive, and saves a lot of headache. You can get good ones on Amazon.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Dear Friends

Please suggest a good Dash cam for XUV 700, which can be used via USB, no hardwiring. Also has anyone installed it in the rear view mirror or dashboard?

Kind request not to give too many options as I am already confused

Thanks in advance for the help.

Please do let us know your budget. If budget is not a constraint you may consider VIOFO A329 Dual channel dashcam.
Part of your query about rear view mirror or dashboard seems incomplete

Any dashcam will work in any car as long as it gets a 5V input. Go with whatever fits your budget and needs
