Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Thanks to this thread for various bits of wisdom with respect to dashcams.

I was able to get my dashcam 70 mai A510 (dual channel) fitted in Kharadi, Pune.
Creative Car Decor in Kharadi, Pune-14, did a professional and quick job and charged Rs 1000/- for the installation.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Guys can someone guide me on what my best pick is between 70mai dash cams from the options below with pricing :

1) A800s front + rear cameras only - Rs 12000
2) A510 front + rear + hardwire kit + 64Gb card - Rs 12600
3) A810 front + rear + hardwire kit + 128Gb card - Rs 16200

I'm very confused, especially between the A510 vs A800 since on is from a lower tier but has Starvis 2 and the other is from a higher tier but has Starvis 1

Appreciate some help since these are some limited time deals and I need to make a purchase before this weekend is over. Thanks

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Guys, I had a harrowing experience with the Qubo dashcam. We purchased a Seltos GTX in September 2024 and subsequently bought a Qubo Dashcam 3K (dual camera setup) for ₹9,000 during the Amazon September sale. However, within one month, it stopped working and rebooted itself every 10-12 minutes. I had to delete it from the app and register it again each time.

I have been in touch with the Qubo support team since November. However, every time they tell me to reformat the memory card, change cables, power adapter, and whatnot.

I kept doing it since I don’t have much time left from work, and it kept working for 10-12 minutes each month (after every registration in the app).

But now, for the last month, it has stopped working altogether. I raised complaints on the chat again, and after a lot of follow-ups, a technician visited. He accepted that the dashcam is not working and said it would be replaced, but then there was dead silence. No one bothered to connect with me again.

After several follow-ups, they keep asking for 48 hours, with no idea for what. I am sure they are waiting to stretch it till September 2025 and then tell me its warranty has expired.

Short story - please refrain from buying cheap Chinese knockoff cameras from Qubo.

Charging 1K for dashcam installation seems too high. I got mine fitted for free during regular servicing from Ford workshop.

Personally I would suggest to go for the Starvis 2. I have the A510 dual channel setup, the night clarity is better than Starvis 1 sensor.

So my suggestion would be the 510 or stretch it and go for the 810

Bump. I have almost finalized the Viofo A229 Plus. Appreciate it if any owners with an iphone let me know if there are issues with the app.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I too am confused as to which one should I go for, Viofo A229 pro or Redtiger F77. Both are dual channel and 4K.

I have watched tons of youtube videos and performance of both cams is excellent and on par with each other. Request members to advice which one will be a better bet, not only in terms of the video quality, but reliability, after sales support etc.

I will be going to the US in a month and planning to buy it there cuz the price of both is roughly 4-5k less than here in India.

Thanks in advance.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I have a Viofo A229 Plus and it's been an uneventful ownership so far. I suppose that means it is doing it's job perfectly.
Viofo's service seems to be above par, at least compared to other Chinese dashcams in the market. I'd recommend it as a solid buy. I got a pretty good deal too, with a larger SD card than I had initially requested. The recorded video is excellent too.
I have not had any issues with the mobile app, but I have an S23. No idea about the app on Apple devices.

Hey SuperNova,

I work in Kharadi. We must catch up sometime. I too got A510 dual channel fitted . I kept the video recording resolution to 3K and found that my 128GB SD card is getting over written after 7 hrs. How long should a 1080p recording should last for ? At least 2 days ?

Do let me know your settings.

Unfortunately VW showroom doesn't fit any other dashcam other than their own, Blaupunkt.
That's what I've heard.
So I was already on the lookout for accessories shops around.

Shops near Magarpatta Amanora were asking for 1200 to 1400 for dual dashcam.
And Viman Nagar stores asking for 1800/-
Finally, I made the trip from Kalyani Nagar to Kharadi.

I had watched videos of A510 installation and it seemed really straightforward, however I didn't want to mess up the cladding removal, as it could interfere with the airbag sensors.
Better safe than sorry

Hey F150, Sure!
Would love to meet a fellow BHPian.
I haven't altered with the settings much and have driven only about 3-4 times since I installed it, and now the car has been taken away for Swagat service.
Will surely tinker with the video quality settings further and let you know.

I had heard a few beeps from the dashcam last week while driving during a long trip, but couldn't check the alert text since eyes were completely on the road.
It could have been the Overwrite or Format SD Card related alert, but I'm not entirely sure.

I'll make a note of it the next time.

Viofo A229 Plus & A229 Pro Firmware Updates

After the v1.3 firmare update that added bluetooth button support and a bunch of new features/settings (more details here - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modif...ml#post5829187 (Viofo A229 Pro 4K Car Dash Cam Review)), Viofo has shipped another firmware update to the A229 Plus and Pro variants in Dec-2024. This one looks like a bug fix version (v1.3.1) with no major feature additions.

Change Log:
1. Added: Turn on/off the parking mode by BTR200 remote
2. Fixed: Other bugs

Steps to Install:
1. Download the firmware files from Viofo - https://www.viofo.com/pages/firmware
2. Format an SD card in Windows (exFAT file system).
3. Copy both the firmware files (front & back) onto the SD card.
4. Power OFF the dashcam and insert the SD card without removing it from the car.
5. Power ON the dashcam. It automatically installs the front unit firmware and reboots itself.
6. It then pushes the rear firmware to the rear cam, followed by installation & an automatic reboot.

I did not get time to review the menus or video quality after this update. I will post here if I find anything interesting in the coming days.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi everyone, I have a DDPAI N3Pro dual dashcam and have been using it for 3 years now. I am currently facing an issue where the dashcam frequently (read every 2-3 mins) turns off and on while driving. The issue is not new, faced it earlier as well, but when I redid the complete wiring, it ceased. I have done the same now, updated the app, changed the password, tried everything else mentioned in the app (in the troubleshooting page).

Did any of you face similar concerns? What could be the culprit?

Thanks in advance!

I encountered the same issue with my previous dash cam, but after upgrading to a high-speed Class 10 SD card, the problem was resolved. If you haven't tried this yet, consider using a Class 10 memory card with good speed.

What I explored so far - Viofo is better and robhust (though yet to buy a dashcam). In US amazon, Viofo A229 plus costs 17k (which is 8k less than India). Even I am thinking to get from US instead of spending 14k on other brand (if able to find somebody coming from US in next few months)
