Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Any reviews on NEXDIGITRON ACE 2 DashCam, In-Built GPS? Getting this dual channel dash cam for 5k. Opting for this one as they also have service centres and installation centre in Pune.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Purchased CP Plus Dashcam with GPS including 64GB card for my Ignis. At Rs. 3800, it seems value for money, has decent video quality and the app also seems good. I have been using this dash cam for last 1 month so can’t comment on long term reliability.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

What is the possibility of warranty being void on my Tata Safari 2023, if I use a hardwire kit for 70mai 810 using fuse taps. Don’t want the sight of cables dangling across my dashboard to get power from the 12v socket ( my primary reason to get a hardwire kit). Please advise.

Best is to check with your service center rather than rely on information here. After all final say in any warranty issues will be from them.

The warranty part is a grey area and I’d suggest not to hardwire if you don’t need parking surveillance. If it’s only about the dangling cables, you can conceal it even when using the 12v socket.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I wanted to install a dual channel dash cam and completely new to this arena.

Could you suggest me the best one's with my following requirements -
  1. Budget - upto 7 K
  2. Don't need 24*7 parking surveillance
  3. Max durability
  4. It should not take up my 12 V source
  5. Wiring should be concealed
  6. I have two cars sonet and seltos. Seltos primarily does the outstation duties. Is it recommended to install dash cam on both ?
  7. Also I need to get this installed in Pune City. Any reliable shops that do the installation even if I purchase the dash cam aftermarket.
  8. Also what about the warranty in case of installing dash cams ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Same sunglasses are cheaper in India than the USA | Why so?

Sorry to go a little off track, not with the theme of the thread, but the products. 2 contrasting observations.

I am due for a business trip to the US later this week and I was looking up the Amazon US site to check the rates of VIOFO 2ch dashcam. To my surprise, I am getting the VIOFO A229 (link below) + CPL filter at $209.99 (approx. Rs.17,500) whereas on Amazon India it is listed for Rs. 26,300 w/o CPL filter. A neat saving of Rs. 8,800.

Amazon US: Link

Amazon IN: Link

On the contrary, on the same page there is a listing for the Sandisk 256 GB microSD card at $45.75 (approx. Rs. 3,820), whereas the same can be bought in India at around Rs. 2,000.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Despite looking at above questions hanging in the loop, I'll still dare and ask if anyone out here has had the opportunity to use the Vantrue N4 3 Channel 4K Dash Cam. I am pretty much sold on it and also intend to buy VANTRUE N4 Windshield Adhesive Mount, is it of any value? Thanks in advance if anyone can chip in with their valuable feedback.

To add to this thread, I have gone crazy with online research on which dashcam to buy. I have the following options, which does the community prefer?
  • REDTIGER F7N 4K Dual Dash Cam (Amazon)
  • 70mai Pro Plus+ A500S (Amazon)
  • Vantrue N4 3 Channel Dash Cam (Amazon)

I'd prefer sleeker dashcams and don't think I need a live video screen. Should I?
It's just that I'd prefer if my view is not cluttered with a large gadget.

I finally bit the bullet and got myself a VIOFO A229 Plus with CPL filter as that seems to be the safest choice. I hear that 4K videos are prone to extreme heating, so have channeled down to 2K. That aside, after spending 30K, I am most concerned about aftersales service, otherwise the Vantrue N4 3 had all the boxes ticked for me.

Saw a review where they installed it on the Thar and said it was working fine and was placed properly. You can check the pictures on the Amazon review page and the user's name is “Bokar Riba”

Not sure about the exact angles but from what the photos suggest, it should be adequate.

Thanks, but not finding this on amazon.in.

There is another review by Yugesh which says not the best for a Thar.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Planning to get the 70mai A800S Dual camera from Nexdigitron website and hardwire it in my Harrier.

Some questions:
1. Any other recommended brands/models with features similar to 70mai A800S?
2. Get the hardwire kit from the same site Nexdigitron or from outside?
3. Any recommendations for reliable installers?

*will talk to my Dealer service centre to check if they’d be ok with respect to warranty.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi,
I own a Safari XZA+ 2021 model. Recently I installed a VIOFO 229 pro dashcam in my vehicle. I connected the dashcam to front USB port . I observed that the dashcam is on even when the car is shut down and locked. Does the front USB port supply continuous power even when the car is shut ? If so then it takes away major hassle of hardwiring Dashcam.

Also i observed a strange thing. If i connect the dashcam to USB ports via a extension cable then for a moment the dashcam powers on then it shuts down. This is true for front USB or any other USB port including the 12 V socket . I tried with multiple extension cables but the result is the same. Any thoughts on it pls ?
