Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I am thinking of installing the following 2 dashcams.

For the front thanks to Narayanan G
https://viofo.in/product/viofo-a119-...ge-sensor-hdr/

For the rear
https://www.nexdigitron.com/products/m300

What do you guys think? Any downsides to this set up?

I am not worried about running 2 dash cams in tandem. I will only pull footage out when I need it.

I recently installed a Viofo A139 (2k model) in my car and had the same doubt. I messaged the helpline number on the website and he advised me to stick it directly on the glass between 2 defogger lines.

Sorry for delayed response, I would definitely go for 4K Resolution and Starvis 2 sensor.

I was using 2 independent dashcams in my car before. My 2 cents:

1) You need to be sure/see that the rear camera is doing it job of recording. In my case I was able to see it on my IRVM during car start every time. So if possible go for something which can be seen working through IRVM.
2) 2 different cameras brings multiple point of failures - on its workings, memory cards, mobile app usage etc. (It can also be seen as a plus, you can avoid a single point of failure with a single unit/memory card used for 2CH recording)

+1 to this. I had installed VioFo A139 Pro rear camera on the rear windshield this way, avoided the electrostatic stickers.

I guess this is without the electrostatic sticker for the rear windshield, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes. He said not to use Electrostatic sticker on the defogger.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi, I am going to get delivery of Honda Elevate ZX shortly. I intend to install a Dash Cam. The authorised dealer has only one option a Philips Model GS3201 (Rs.13,120/-) but no rear camera.
Would appreciate recommendations from you folks.
Thanks

Usually dealers don't keep popular dashcams and also overcharge for what they sell. You can browse thru this forum and can find many options like 70mai, DDPAI, Vifio etc in various budgets and features. Buy on your own from outside and DIY installation or take help from an accessories shop.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Does anyone have any first hand experience with the CarEye from MapMyIndia? link

My office is planning on deploying this across its fleet of vehicles, wanted to check in here before finalizing it.

Suggestions for better alternatives are welcome.

Features required:
-Live cam view via remote app
-GPS monitoring

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hello all
I recently purchased a MG 360 Degree dashcam and installed on my car

I have 2 issues
1. After downloading the 360 degree video (in .mov format)to mobile, I am unable to move the file to any other folder or share it with others on sharing apps like shareit or shareme. I get error message stating this file is not found.

2. I hear a intermittent camera shutter noise while playing the downloaded video irrespective of whether sound recording is enabled or disabled.

Can anyone kindly help in letting me know if you are facing similar problem? If yes, Kindly share how to resolve

Also if possible please share the contacts of MG support escalation team. Would like to escalate the issue since they have not responded so far in spite of 3-4 calls.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Was checking out the brand new model A229 PRO 2 CH on the VIOFO international site which sells for $300 with free shipping to India. Will there be a duty that will be added before final delivery?

Ofcourse, please factor in that before ordering. Usually it is arbitrary.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi all,

I am looking at front dash am for my Honda City.

I want only capacitor based dash cams and good camera with more than Full HD recording.

I am looking at Viofi AI 119. I live in Gurgaon and will auto accessories shops install it, if I order online from Viofi India.

Please also tell, if there are other options

What is the usual %? Is it always imposed or is it on random basis?

Some 45% and then GST on top of that, as I understand.

Viofo seller Vijay shared some contacts in Bangalore who does these dashcam installations, according to him they have collected those contacts from their existing customer experiences and they are not having any direct associations with those installers. You can go to any other accessory shops who has expertise in installing dashcams.

Its also a simple DIY job, if you plan to connect to 12V charging ports.

cheers,
