Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
Finally bought the DDPAI mini, good for the price and decent video quality.
Small and discreet. Serves my purpose.
Didn't go for the 70 Mai on account of it having a battery.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Does anyone have experience in buying from Gearbest?

I had purchased the 70mai 1s Dashcam from Gearbest on August 6. SingPost Registered is the mode of transport.

It has been nearly two months since and I haven't received the order. The last status update reads:

"2019-09-12 17:35:00 Held by custom"

Is there anything that I can do to get the order moving at this point in time? I contacted Gearbest support and they asked me to wait as the order is still within the expected delivery timeframe.

That's usual.
Normally these stuffs get held at Customs for over 2~4 weeks.

THANK YOU!!! I'd to scrounge for another coupon from web, and used this code "5c89be" for a total of Rs 10048.33. Didn't know coupons give such deep discount!

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I call this a scarecrow-cam.

The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread-img_20191005_115417.jpg

And, it is even wired!
The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread-img_20191005_115815.jpg

Stop-gap arrangement until I get a real dashcam for the rear. This was my first dashcam which went kaput within few months of usage.

Why a dummy camera? The mere presence of a camera helps. I've had one instance where a stupid biker just decided to swerve to his right on a main road. I managed to stop somehow, without hitting him. Then he started arguing with me saying he has his turn indicator on, and that it was my fault. All I had to do was to show him my dashcam and say that everything he did was recorded. Upon asking whether he would like to see what's recorded, he started his bike and fled the scene!

In another instance, my brother's car was hit by a careless bullet rider who tried to hastily cross the highway but ended up hitting his car. The argument started off, and all we had to say was that camera recorded his adventure. Absolutely no argument after that, he didn't even ask for any money. (Which is the usual case - owner of bigger vehicle has to compensate the owner of the smaller vehicle)

Instances were people argues with you saying it is your fault, while they know it is their's, the presence of a camera really helps! Additionally, it may help in preventing vandalism while the car is parked in any public spaces.

BTW, I do have a functional dashcam in the front.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

My 2 year old VIOFO A119s has suddenly stopped working. Neither starting with a direct USB cable nor via the GPS mount.

Is 2 years the expected life of this product?

Have you tried to update the firmware? Alternate option is to flash the same version again.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi All,

Looking for suggestions to buy a dash-cam for my Swift somewhere in the budget of 4 - 5 K. While looking online found couple of brands but not able to finalize the best.

At the same time i have asked one of my sibling who is coming from USA next month and she suggested CHORTAU Dual Dash Cam 3 inch ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q5R22DV..._t2_B07WK1YR96 ), i would like to know your feedback if anyone is using the same.

Yi dashcam would be my recommendation. From my research, it is definitely the best within 5k. You can find many reviews of the same on Team-Bhp.

https://www.amazon.in/YI-YI-89006-10...x=yi+da&sr=8-2

If you are willing to spend a bit more, I would recommend the 70Mai Pro which retails for 6.5k. I got the same one-

Hi AYP,

Thanks for your suggestions, will go with 70mai pro as this seems to be a better one of the two.

Required New 32GB SD Card for Blaupunkt Dashcam Version 1.0.

I have Blaupunkt BP 2.0 FHD Dashcam bought from Snapdeal in August 2015.

I want to buy Memory Card for the same of size 32GB (as it supports maximum 32GB).

I have searched on Amazon.in and found below option-
Transcend High Endurance-microSD-TS32GUSDHC10V

But on clicking No. of Sellers, 09 Sellers are shown as below-
Amazon.in Transcend Seller Listing

Now I am confused whether the on with Price of Rs. 1490/- of iBhejo Seller and Rs. 1544/- of AIIPL_BLR Seller are of low quality as some of the sellers are selling this card with price of Rs. 3200+/-.

I will be using this Dashcam God Forbid until it goes kaput.

So Bhpians, please advise whether I should go for Rs. 1544/- from AIIPL_BLR Seller as it is Prime Seller.

Thank you for sharing this looks good. Did you also research dual cam models i.e. both Front and Rear as there are more chances in India for Rear Bumper benders etc?

Re: Required New 32GB SD Card for Blaupunkt Dashcam Version 1.0.

Tanotis India sells this for 3,200 (my friend picked up and it is original). This should be the correct price. See on their site if there is any discount. Amazon products are mostly fakes, and I have been returning quite a few.

The Blaupunkt and Transcend (which I have) cameras never retire, unlike the new brands. So keep using it.
