The video appears of good quality. Someone has reviewed on Snapdeal that videos are not recorded in HD. Can you please clarify? I'm already using a Transcend DrivePro 220 and am quite satisfied with it. But this one looks good and can be used in my other vehicles. Have you been able to register the product on Blaupunkt? I hope this is original considering the features' similarity and price difference between this and DrivePro series.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Thanks, I too have ordered Blaupunkt 2; from Snapdeal at 2070.

Does it come with any SD card for recording OR I need SD card right from go ?

Any recommendation on what SD card to be used and supported ?

Thinking of buying in advance so as to start recording from day 1.

The videos are recorded in both HD and SD resolutions. FWIW, expecting DSLR'ish HD video quality (pointing to the user review on Snapdeal) from this one is absurd. That said, the quality is good for a dashcam worth 2k.

Here are the resolutions available for recording:

It doesn't come with any card in the bundle. You need to buy a micro SD card separately.

The manual says mSD upto 32GB is supported. We've used a Samsung Class 10 32 GB mSD card with the device and worked well.

Thanks Gannu_1, I just placed the order on Snapdeal

Can the display be switched off while driving?

I'm currently using a Chinese make for the last 8 months. I will have this shifted to the rear windscreen.

Yes, by pressing the UP key while recording.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Gannu, does it needs to be taken off from windscreen in the afternoon ? Sun can be very hot and can damage this.

Any precautions etc ?

Also, is this the SD card to be used (size perspective) ?

I am thinking of buying Transcend. Hope, this will fit in BP

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hello Experts,

A query to all Blaupunkt 2 buyers and users:
1) Whats the battery capacity of the unit, how much does it last on one charge? Does it need to be continuously charged when in operation?
2) How much recording time can be achieved with a 32 GB SD card?
3) How stable or strong is the mounting arrangement?

Sorry if the questions have already been asked before.

Snapdeal says it comes with 2 yrs warranty, is that correct?

I have mounted it on the black patch at the top-centre of the windshield which protects the unit from direct sunlight rays.

It should. Do check other e-commerce websites for a cheaper deal.

1. 300 mAH. The battery lasted for just over an hour with continuous operation. Requires to be charged after that.

A 32 GB mSD card gives approx. 29.66 GB of formatted capacity. A 480p video uses approx. 1 GB for 10 minutes of 480p capture, 720p uses approx. 1.7 GB of 720p capture (not sure of 1080p, didn't bother). Do the math.

The suction mount is strong enough. It never came off the mount in our case.

1. I havn't measured exactly but its not much.

2. When I started up the unit with an empty 32GB card, it said 3 hours 40 minutes recording left.

3. Its a suction cup. It will hold super strong on the windsheild, results may vary if your glass is oily/presence of sunfilm.

I tried a 64GB microSD and it works flawlessly with the Blaupunkt.

The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread-img_20150807_162104.jpg

With 48GB free space, it says 5 hours 48 minutes of recording time available.

So finally after reading millions of reviews bought -Blaupunkt BP 2.0 FHD Digital Video Recorder
From snap deal. Price after ordering though the app was Rs 2070. This is my first purchase from snap deal and my first order for COD. Eagerly waiting for the product.
Question - is the power cord long enough for it to run from the cam - to over the door seam - to under the seat - to the power slot near the gear lever? Could someone let me know the length

Is it just plug and play or does it require some configuration ?

Its very, very long. Long enough to conceal it from headliner - A pillar - dashboard. For all practical purposes, it is plug and play.

I'm getting a second cigarette lighter socket, I'll wire it, connect it to the dashcam charger and hide the whole thing behind the dashboard so that I don't lose functionality of the original 12V socket on the dash.

Ordered for BP 2.0 on snap deal. Thanks for reviews and videos posted here.

The price is now 2090.

I can see that it is supporting 64 GB sd card though it says 32 GB on the spec. Now thinking whether to buy a 64 GB card or a 32 GB card.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

My Dashcam Time.

I bought a Chinese dash-cam from Aliexpress. Costed me approximately 7000 including customs duty.

This unit has the following:
1. Front Full HD 1080
2. Rear HD 720
3. 32 Gb support
4. G Sensor/ Motion Sensors
5. Battery (10 Mins max life)
6. GPS optional (did not take this option)
7. Audio recording - can be turned off as well (see pics)
8. Loop recording for video - using a 32 Gb card gives 2.5 hours dual recording approx. Each camera feeds into a separate folder. Video quality is very acceptable day and night, although, in pitch dark, only the objects covered by the headlight can be seen. Numbers/ Boards/ Signs can be read easily.
9. Where-is-it-discreet! No one has ever spotted me using the cam so far, and its been up for about two months.
10. Light Blue tinted mirror, which is really useful in night driving, and no annoyance during the day either.
11. Screen built into the Mirror.
12. Reverse camera also works as a parking camera, this was a surprise. Wiring is similar to parking camera, one of the wires is connected to the reverse light, and feeds into the dash-cam, automatically triggering the screen change and shows the Grid overlay. The grid is adjustable - up or downwards. (see pic)
13. Fitment is via rubber bands stretched over the existing mirror (see pic).
The Unit is fit on my i10 as of now, and I will be buying several more it seems in the coming weeks.
14. Button panel is hidden, and pops out if you touch a recessed spring/ button.
15. I connected the power to the fuse box (on ignition ON mode, it starts up, wiring done by a local shop, with two fuses in the wire). Rest of the wiring has been concealed in the headliner, A pillar plastic, the plastic under the doors below which we have the wiring harness etc.
16. Manufacturer was kind enough to send me a link of the updated firmware as well.

There is a more expensive model that runs Android 4, and larger screen/ mirror combination for those who may want to experiment or want more features. This can be rooted as well (instructions are available along with the root tool on certain Russian forums).

Questions, Queries are welcome.

What is the charging cable for the dashcam like? is it not the regular mobile charging type? I mean micro usb socket type. If so then existing charger can be used.
