Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

Hi guys, I'm looking to sound deaden my Tata Altroz.. Even from factory the car has decent sound deadning and the door panels and other pockets seem to be filled these pillows ( I guess to reduce the higher end notes? ).

I'm completely unaware of how and what materials are used for this purpose and how much is really necessary/a good amount.

Can someone please guide me? I'm looking to reduce cabin noise as well as heat if possible.

Thanks and Regards.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

Has anyone used any of these specific materials from Wuerth? Feedback and opinion? Which ones did you use? What did you pay?

I plan to deaden the doors as well as the boot. Have a tube sub in the boot and an underseat amp and any increase in volume feels like the boot is going to fly off. The boot door is also extremely light to the touch. Car is a sedan, VW Jetta.

So did you install the D5? How is it holding up so far? Are you happy with the sound insulation? I saw Navin’s comment on this product having the 5mm of foam for better insulation. We’re the 5 sheets enough for your forester?

The wuerth stuff I posted above is bitumen based and not a good idea. Butyl over bitumen any day.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

We recently bought a Honda Amaze and I noticed that the insulation at highway speeds is poor. A solution that immediately popped up to my mind was dampening, but I am a complete noob at this. I would really appreciate suggestions on damping a Honda Amaze purely for reducing road and tyre noise.

I recently fitted Blaupunkt damping sheet in my Tata Tigor. Total sheet used 10 for all 4 doors i.e. 2.5 sheets per door. The cost per sheet is Rs.850/- and the thickness of each sheet is 2mm.

The result after fixing the sheets are amazing. Very decent sound proof and no rattling sounds even at roads with potholes. I found its worth for the money spent.

Herewith a small video taken during installation (inner layer)

Thank you for the reply. I assume not every accessory shop foes this and I might find a good professional who can perform the job. Also, I see you haven't used any damping sheet for the floor which I see in many other posts related to damping. I am curious about how much of an effect it will have w.r.t damping effect.

Hi all,
I have recently bought an Elevate ZX CVT and am strongly considering damping to improve the NVH as it is on the higher side.Kindly guide regarding reputable workshops in Bangalore for the same along with technical feasibility.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

Has anyone got this hybrid damping installed in their car? I'm thinking to get the front and back fender removed and applying this damping, plus key areas like front door and floor.

I already have full body damping, which is butyl plus the aluminium layer. But it does not have the sound absorption layer and the mass loaded vinyl which acts as a sound blocker.

Brand name?

What unit, according to them, is a "MIL." I'm curious.

Sorry for belated reply.
Yes you are correct, I didn't use the damping sheet for the floor. Will see later if needed however I am very much happy with the present condition of the damping effect on the doors.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

Can anyone recommend a good installer for damping, in Mumbai? Planning to get my XUV 700 damped. Also, any estimate of the costing involved?
