Hi Gurus,

I have noticed my rear left speaker (GTO 938) makes a crackling noise. It is annoying and happens even at low volume - mostly when songs with nice bass is played.:Frustrati

My HU is Pioneer DEH 8350 SD!

The installer says that this is due to dust in the speaker cone. What do you think? Is it advisable to find a single coax and replace it?

No, this doesn't sound like dust in speaker cone - that gives a scratching noise, and is at a constant low volume (if you increase volume, you are unlikely to hear it). Quite likely the connector is loose at the connection terminal on the speaker.

If the sound comes from both the speakers, the problem is likely in the HU. Does this happen in the same way with ANY source - FM / SD / ...?

To my best knowledge, it happens only on the left speaker. Also, I forgot to mention that if I completely switch off the ignition and then turn on again the crackling stops for some time. Then it starts again randomly. I have tested with CD, USB and FM - happens with all three sources.

It might be a case of cracked diaphram of the speaker or a loose connection.HU issues ruled out in these scenerios i believe.If possible try to have a look at the connector end yourself for any loose cable.

Has to be a loose electrical connection in the dash, behind the HU. Have an installer pull out the HU, and wiggle each wire till he is able to isolate the culprit.

Thanks for all the feedback and help. I checked the cables to the speaker and it did seem not very neatly connected. I did my best to connect it properly, but thinking may be to visit a specialist like Satya to get this checked and rectified.
