It's that time of the year again :-(

The equipment goes like this: (prices mentioned are MRP's in India)

1. Head Unit: Eclipse CD7200MKII
Rs. 45000

2. Front Stage:
-----Alpine SPX-17PRO 2-way Components --> Rs. 55000
-----DLS RA20 2 Channel power amplifier--> Rs. 27500

3. Sub Stage:
-----JBL W12GTi Subwoofer in a Sealed FG Enclosure --> Rs. 30000
-----Clarion DPX11551 Monoblock Amplifier--> Rs. 30000

4. Sound Deadening:
-----Noisekill: Over 65 sq. ft spread in various parts of the car.
Rs. 10000

5. Wiring:
RCA: Monster XLN401 Pro *2 = Rs. 1500 *2 = Rs. 3000
Power Cabling: Polycab 3 Core Wire (35 sq. mm.) * 2 = Rs 1120 * 2= Rs. 2240

Installation and Fabrication : Rs. 25000


TOTAL MRP: Rs. 227, 740


ALL EQUIPMENT PURCHASED in 2009.

Thats not the actual total what frank has spent on his ice, What i think it should be around 1.5 lacs

Ya, that(underlined) gives us a clue that its not the amount he has spent. my guesss is it should be atleast 50% less

when did u buy this head unit - this year ?

even i bought the same for 7k recently , but ppl tell that its reduced - i feel i paid more

  • Rear Co-axials : Illusion Electra EL 62
2. How much did it cost and when did you buy it?
  • Bought in : October 2009
  • Headunit (B/W) : Rs. 14500 (Rs.15990 MRP)
  • Front Components (B/W) : Rs. 6500 (Rs. 6990 MRP)
  • Rear Co-Axials (B/W): Rs. 3500 (Rs. 3990 MRP)
  • Spacers, Scosche connectors, installation : Rs. 500
Total : Rs. 25000 (did I pay too much?? I do not know)

3.How serious were you about your system?

Not at all serious.

4. which kind of music do you listen to ?? prefer deep bass or how is it...

Soft, Instrumentals, Classical without too much of booming bass.

5. would you recommend it to others???

I do not know if what I have is good or bad (and I spent 25k ). But my family liked it. I need to listen to a few good setups and then make up my mind.

You paid a lot for the HU.
You could have got a better HU in that price range or even cheaper than that.

Not at all serious.

yes - butcan be reduced by another 1 or 2 K

No it hasn't reduced in all places. I got it for 7K, just 2 months before. The point is when the dealers think its a treasured model, and judge the pulse of customer, they will never reduce the price.
On contrary, if they feel its an outdated model, they come down to sell it desperately. Here again if you act a casual customer, who does not know much about ICE, the chances are you get better price for some older models.

This rule may not be universally applicable though, I have noticed it in my limited experience

Headunit : Kenwood MP6043U
Front Co-axials : Hertz DCX 100
Rear Co-axials : POLK DB690

2. How much did it cost and when did you buy it?

Above set up + MDF board + Installation costed me 15K with bill and warranty (in September 2009)
(got one Car refreshner free of cost)


3.How serious were you about your system?
Wanted a decent music system

4. which kind of music do you listen to ??
90s bollywood, Malayalam Classics, Soft rock, Pop, Hip-hop, Club mixes

5. would you recommend it to others???
Yes, I like it very much
I am thinking of upgrading

Ya thats true M10.

He actually gave me the option of 6050 and 5050 and quoted little bit high on 6050 - so went for this 5050 .

No issues at all the features are quite neat - except the display
