  • Alpine CDA 9856
  • Infinity-speakers-ref9613i
  • Infinity-speakers-ref5010cs
  • JBL 12" with ported enclosure
  • Sony 222(my old amp)
Iam looking at upgrading the components, sub and amp to drive the same.

My ICE setup

I use the following in my 2 yr old santro xing erlx

1) Sony cdx-gt-350s with front aux-in
2) Sony front speakers and sony 4 way rear speakers
3) Sony amplifier in 2.1 mode i.e. rear speakers + sub
4) Fusion 12" sub tube - no more space in my boot
5) Archos 504 30gb - my fave accessory - plays audio/video to my car receiver (or tv or onkyo thx), records audio/video from any source, and is a usb hard disk. upgraded to this from an archos 100gb av500 with similar functionality.
Archos & front-aux-in are the best things that has happened to me
when i do not have charge in my archos, i can even play music of my phone or laptop using front-aux-in. Also have a cigarette lighter power strip (2 points), using which I can charge ANY 2 devices (helps on long journeys - mostly charge the laptop from lighter and charge phone and archos via usb)

Cheers,
j

well yeah - i realized one does need some serious ice to survive - the good music keeps you occupied instead of going mad on autos and 20kmph drag racing trucks and on traffic signals one can enjoy videos (also passenger is happy and entertained and doesn't bother you for taking that occasional dig at the stupid auto)

On a side note - since the archos is a dvr (digital video recorder), i just record high quality videos (like 3hrs of vh1 of tatasky), split it into individual music videos and voila I have avoided piracy and the headache of downloading/buying/ripping mp3s. Also I can watch (or hear depends on whether i am driving or at a signal) missed tv shows/movies in car

Ok just realised this is ice & price thread, so heres my spendings
1) sony cdx-gt350s - 8k
2) sony front speakers - 1.5k
3) sony 4 way rear oval rear speakers - 6k
4) sony amp and fusion sub - 15k
5) archos 504 30gb w 4.3" screen - 300usd = 12k
note the old archos av500 100gb w 4" screen cost - 750usd = 30k (but i gifted that to my sis in aussie) -- also you can get a archos 30/60gb with 7" screen (huge) for 500usd approx, definitely will put that in my next car as the current santro don't have enough space to put a stand for something that big!!
So total cost for those who want to got for this setup (options 1 & 2 i have tried and lived with)
1) my current setup with 30gig 4.3" archos = 43.5k
2) my old setup with 100gig 4" archos = 60.5k
3) and the one which I haven't tried yet - i.e. whole setup with archos 7" 30gb = 54.5k. This is better than using a 7" lcd as the archos gives much more than just a screen as I have been harping throughout this thread
