Never saw this thread but I would love to pitch in: If it is one of these kits people are after, and call quality is a priority, then go for the Jabra Freeway with your eyes closed.

The thing has excellent call quality compared to Parrot's sleeker offering and any of the Blaupunkts kits out there, it has never failed to pair with my phone, always switches off when car is parked and I exit, and switches on right when I get into the car and close the door after which it connects with my phone flawlessly.

Absolutely no complaints regarding the product after nearly 2 years of usage

I have Microsoft Exchange configured on my mobile. Every time a call ends, abruptly due to n/w issues or if the opposite party ends the call, the phone locks automatically. Since Exchange is configured, it's compulsory to have a lock on the screen, and I have secured it with a 5-digit PIN.

When a call ends abruptly and I need to redial, I have to unlock the phone before I can do anything with it. This requires taking your eye off the road. I generally do it upon reaching the next Red light at a traffic signal. Sometimes, the light turns green immediately upon reaching a signal and I end of throwing the phone, that I just picked up, on the passenger seat before moving ahead. This is a process that happens every Mon-Fri and I am really looking to put an end to it.

My question is - does the Jabra Freeway redial the last number even if the Phone screen is locked? To generalize the question, does this device dial any number if the phone is locked just by issuing appropriate voice commands? Because if doesn't then I should ask myself the question again on what's the most challenging aspect of calling-while-driving that this device addresses?

As of today, unlocking the phone to redial just after the call gets disconnected due to a n/w drop is the most challenging task I encounter on a daily basis.

Edit : Looks like it doesn't work if the screen has a lock on it - http://blog.carvana.com/2013/06/jabra-freeway/ . The "cons" section in this article has a mention of this.

The Jabra Freeway WILL dial the last incoming and outgoing numbers with the voice commands "Redial" and "Call back" (after tapping the *VOICE* key), despite the screen being locked. I use a pattern to lock the screen of my Android phone, but it still dials the numbers when the screen is locked. (See the first video on the first page of this thread).

After 2.5 years of having used the device regularly (it stays in the car always), I'd also say that it is quite durable.

I have got my Jabra Freeway Bluetooth a few days ago from my Brother-in-law. It is paired with my Samsung smartphone quickly without any issue. It has amazing sound quality and very sophisticated look. Built quality seems to be solid. It works perfectly even the window is rolled down. But sometimes voice calling is difficult as it doesn't understand my accents. Recommended for buying.

I am looking for a cheaper option for in car bluetooth connectivity, this (Supertooth car kit buddy) one looks good to me, flipkart reviews are also good, would like to know tbhp guys review on this?

1. Is the Aux port of Audio system now being used by the bluetooth kit?
2. Are the wires visible from A-Pillar to the music system?
3. How is the power supplied to the unit?
4. Do I need to set the ICE in Aux mode for the car speakers to be used in the call?
5. I should be able to stream my phone's music through this bluetooth unit to the car's speaker?

I have been using this: Supertooth Crystal bluetooth kit . This is probably the next version of what you have mentioned in your post. The one I have is going strong for the last 18 months. I charge it occasionally, twice in a month. The voice clarity is good too. And this has survived quite a few falls. The all metallic body is pretty strong. Overall, I would definitely recommend this.

After little bit of googling, it looks like the Supertooth Crystal shows the status of its battery on the iPhone (if you use one). The Supertooth Buddy doesn't list this feature. Look it up on Supertooth website.

In fact the one you have seems the latest, Supertooth crystal has following additional features over Supertooth buddy
1) BT version 3 over 2.1 in Supertooth buddy
2) It can stream music and can announce GPS instructions of smartphone
3) Low battery audio signal

flipkart is selling crystal at Rs2790 and buddy at Rs2480
amazaon is selling crystal at 2499 and buddy at 2149

So I think I should order Supertooth Crystal, will wait for couple of days in case another bhpian has experienced otherwise or has a better suggestion in this price range

I have a query that is little different than what is discussed on this thread. If this should go to a different thread, I request the MODS to please do the needful.

I drive a Nano CX 2012 that doesn't have a stereo system. I am thinking of using a Bluetooth stereo speaker for my ICE. I will not have to cut the door pads to install speakers, nor will I have to put a MDF board on the back. Also, I'll not have to buy a HU and get that thing 'fitted'. A regular set up of a HU with 2 speakers will cost north of Rs 10k. If I can use a BT speaker that can stream music from my phone/ipod for anything around that price of Rs 10k, I'll consider it a worthy alternative.

Now I am not a very good listener (something that my wife reminds me every time she gets an opportunity ). What I mean is that I don't need a great setup. I just need something that can be heard over the sound of the engine. I have damped the car with yoga mats, so I have very less disturbance from outside.

Has anyone tried this? Any recommendation for a good Bluetooth speaker that is loud, really loud and costs around Rs 10k?

The ICE has 4 sources, AUX,CD,USB & FM. So this BT unit forms a 5th source?
I mean if I have a device connected to Aux port, and my phone connected to the BT unit, then how will I be able to switch between both the sources?

Or is it that, whenever my phone is streaming sound(call or songs) to the BT unit, I will have no option but to listen to the BT unit?

Buddy, there is another source in Nippon head unit. Can't recall the name, the wires of BT are connected behind the Nippon HU.

Buddy, I haven't used the AUX port eve, so won't be in a position to answer that.

Summary: I would suggest install the BT unit, its worth it.

Bump. Anybody who has done a similar set up?

Also, I came across BT speakers that have inbuilt FM tuners and some that also have a card reader. Now this is perfect for a Car Stereo. I just need to find one that is good.
