Skoda DANCE Audio code forgotten!

I have a 2008 Fabia, with the DANCE audio module. Recently, after having some work done, the garage disconnected the battery to erase error codes. After this the DANCE screen asked for a code to be entered.

I tried the default 0000, but this did not work, I tried some other numbers I thought might have been put in if the dealership asked me at the time of delivery. I have tried the reset (keeping key in car and audio module on for nearly an hour), after which it asked for code again, but still did not accept 0000.

I am unable to find any further information in the manual about this, so requesting the gurus here to help out. Do I need to find the correct original code, resetting it for an hour every time I enter a wrong one? Is there a way to decode it from the car, or to reset it to 0000?

Please let me know if you need specific car info (VIN etc), which I can PM you. Thanks

I think that would be the last resort, if no other remedy can be found. Reason as you well know is the standards of skoda service stations. I am no longer in the city where I bought the car, so the code, if changed by the original dealer, should hopefully still be decoded at the local skoda service. However, I have no experience with the local dealer (Nawab Auto), and am wary of them telling me this and that needs to be replaced and why don't I pay them a million $ to do it, let alone do something worse with the car!

Check the manuals that came with the car. Usually European / German cars with such feature have the code provided in the Manual.

Re: Skoda DANCE Audio code forgotten! Please Help

@abhibh manual says the code needs to be entered, if battery is disconnected, and that default 0000 should appear, however I see a 1000 when the code is asked for. I wonder if calling the original dealer can help, if they save the codes they input into cars at time of delivery.

From Manual:

Quote:
Anti-theft protection

Your radio is equipped with a convenience coding. If the radio is being operated for the first time, the safety code is not only stored in the radio but also in the vehicle.
After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, first of all switch on the ignition
and then the radio.
If you wish to install the radio in another vehicle, the safety code must be entered. In this case, please do not hesitate to contact a Škoda Service Partner or a Škoda importer. As the unit only functions after entering the safety code, this practically excludes its use after a theft - a contribution to increased anti-theft safety.

Note
The code is stored in the instrument cluster. Through this it is automatically
decoded (convenience coding). A manual entry of the code is normally not
necessary.

Code entry
– Switch on the radio if the ignition is on. SAFE is displayed and then 0000.
– Enter the safety code using the station keys .
– Confirm the safety code by pressing the button .
If you have confirmed a wrongly entered code, you can repeat once again the entire process.
If the code number is entered incorrectly for the second time, the unit will be
blocked for approx. one hour. It is only possible to repeat the entry of the safety
code after an hour has expired and while the unit is switched on and the ignition
key remains in the ignition lock.
The cycle - two attempts, blocked for an hour - furthermore applies

Re: Skoda DANCE Audio code forgotten! Please Help

The code for each system varies AFAIK. In the manual, they may have a sticker affixed along with your VIN code or in the manual specific to the music system. Try accessing that. In my Laura, I remember the technician specifically showing me this code during PDI.

@v.anand you are godsend!! thanks, found the PIN sticker and will try it immediately (maybe after 1 hr reset)

Edit: Worked!! the sticker gives no inkling what the numbers might mean, but thats probably for security.
