9th character H = Aug

Bought it today! You shouldn't have accepted it.

Give it back and tell him that you will file a complaint in the court for cheating.

If I remember correctly Chevrolet/GM follows a different sequence for VIN right? I remember Torquedo posting the VIN sequence for GM cars.

Ideally you should have clarified the VIN much earlier, at least before you do the PDI . What you have got is a 10 month old car, which is not very nice. After a car gets registered on your name, im not very sure what you can do now. Probably some mails to Chevorlet and follow up might get you some solution

That's effective from February 2011 onwards only.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Bad news: the manager at showroom doesnt know how to decipher the VIN code and so i have to wait till he confirms.

Good News:both showroom manager and chevy helpline has agreed to take back the car if found to be a 2010 model.

i know wildon is cent percent right and just thinking of how to prove that this is norm of VIN deciphering!!

That's a positive reply. Refer the first page of this thread in that we have explained how to decode the Chevy Vin .

Also keep in mind that from Feb 2011 onwards the month code position is changed in the VIN. Which is explained in the first page of this thread.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Thanks Wildon, finally did the PDI for my Manza Qjet, and found that its a May 2011 manufactured. Everything was cool with the car so went ahead and gave a green signal for funds release & registration.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Hey Wildon/ TBHP friends,

Need your help. Heard that VIN and chasis no in most vehicles are same. But, I have got this 15 digit chasis no of a Safari LX that my friend is planning on buying from a used car dealer. Can you decode it for me? (If at all possible from chasis no.)
