It's 2013 model. The tenth character 'D' stands for 2013 but I am not able to decode the month. Is 'E' the eleventh character of your VIN ?

Thanks GrandDrive for your quick response.

I was also wondering the same about the 11th character being a letter instead of a number. Perhaps it's an "8". I will check with the salesperson as I was interested in this vehicle as it is being offered at a discount along with freebies.

Does anyone have an opinion about buying this older model as it has been sitting with the dealer for over a year?

If you assume the eleventh character to be '8', then it's August 2013 model.

Fluence looks very stylish but it doesn't sell in good numbers for Renault. It's almost close to 20 months i.e. ~ 2 years old sitting with the dealer (if assumed as August 2013 make) and my opinion is not to go for it even though you might get at an attractive price with freebies.

Congrats ! It's March 2015 model. The eleventh character 'F' stands for the year 2015 and twelfth character 'D' stands for the March month.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Hi,

I have noticed that the VW chasis number is no longer starting with WVW but MEX. I believe the VIN decoding article too needs to changes to reflect this as it currently says all VW chasis numbers start with WVW.

Mods, can you pls do the needful

could you please decode Mercedes VIN WDD2221236L002726
Few online vin decodes are showing manufacturing year 2006 which is not possible for a brand new car
Thanks!

I did search ways to decode but all websites point out it is a 2006 manufactured one.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

VIN for my car(Ford Ecosport) indicates a January manufactured car.
Is it ok to buy a car made 4 months back?

It arouses a bit of suspicion cos Ecosport is a fast mover. Unless you are looking at one of those niche variants like the 1.5P Ambiente or the AT, ask them to get you a newer one.
