Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Hello Wildon, my friend is buying the latest Polo Petrol Comfortline. We did a small check on the VIN number and its a Jan 2014 manufactured car. However the website says the new safety features come in only cars after Feb 2014. And there was no airbag written on the dash / steering wheel. This has made the situation a bit confusing.
I am mentioning the VIN number below, can you decode it fully including the feature list ? Looking forward for your reply.

VIN Number :- WVWA14607ET051775

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Booked a FIAT Punto earlier this week and finalized the white color today. Here's the VIN my SA sent me: MCA11814E07051541AJZ

What I can make out from it is that it's a January 2014 Manufactured car> Any other details I can get?

Thanks!

You're welcome! Indeed, it is an Xcent. I was confused at first on seeing the Grand i10, and typed the variant as Sportz, but corrected it to S later.

The two cars share the same code 'BA' and hence are listed as Grand i10/Xcent (BA) in Hyundai's records. The only way to identify the difference is to look in body type. The Grand i10 is classified as a 5-door, 5-seater sedan (5DR 5P) while the Xcent's type is a 4-door, 5-seater sedan (4DR 5P).

Going by the article, E and D in above VIN should be read as 2014 April.

Note to Mods: I saw aghost's post only now when I came to check if I have got any replies. Could not edit my previous post as its been well past 30 minutes.

Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Maverift, I've sent you a PM as requested.

----------

Hyundai buyers and Hyundai owners, this is the site I use to get the VIN details:

https://service.hyundai-motor.com/euro5/login.tiles

One must register to access the site. It's a treasure trove of information. You can find all the details of your car (with the part numbers) under the section called parts catalog. Not just that, you can pull out the online service manuals of your Hyundai, car specific diagnostic trouble codes etc.

The thing is, this is a new site and it is supposed to be a fully paid site (the old one was partly free). However, they have had some technical issues with the payment system of the site, so they have made it free to access till they sort out the payment system (note - registration is still required).

Like all good things, the fully free access may not last long. But while it does, you can get every bit of detail you want to know about your Hyundai and how to fix any issue etc. for free.

Enjoy it while the free access lasts. Even after they have sorted out the payment system, one should be able to buy a one-hour access (the minimum) for about €5 to €10. Without a doubt, it's a great site for existing and future Hyundai car owners!
