Here is one initial first pic I took.

We have everyone's face except you.

You've been very modest and pandemic compliant

Dump the roadie into the GT boot made into flatbed. Park somewhere at Vashi and then ride out and back. (Although that also is a 120 km odd ride I think. Way beyond current pay grade - maybe I should park at Karjat ).
Belapur McDonald's (opposite Decathlon) is where I generally drive till when I do long distance rides. In fact, with Marine Drive and Eastern Express Highway in a terrible state at the moment, many chaps drive to this spot on Sundays and do Palm Beach Road loops or the new Panvel - JNPT Road loops. At present, these are the best roads to train on.

Yes fully agree with you. PBR is super for loops as is Panvel JNPT. You can throw in climbs at Parsik if you wish. And if you want to a longish out and back you can ride a suitable distance towards Chowk / Khopoli and back. Sampada or Belapur McD is perfect starting point.

Btw - happy to see you on this thread Aditya. If you feel so inclined, at an opportune time perhaps you could put out a Sunday meet up for Mumbai cyclists somewhere. Will be good to get the cyclists doing a meet up in these parts. Can be an easy city ride so it can attract cyclists of varying ability. Maybe Bandra or someplace which is honestly less dug up than Marine Drive / Worli SeaFace.

Bombay is a city where you can easily manage century loops inside the city proper without ever actually leaving it.

Quite convenient. But if you want to get outside to the greenery and climbs, quickly, quite a pain too ... a double edged sword I guess.

Re: Team-BHP Cycling Meetup Thread, Bangalore

Get amazed by how you guys casually talk of century loops. Can do a 25-30 km easily but have never crossed 42 km. Also get very scared of traffic - don’t mind early Sunday morning from home to Worli Sea Face - NCPA and back (thought crossing Elphinstone bridge on the way back is bad) - but have never done Eastern Express or the highways (or at least not since my teenage years when I used to cycle from
Vashi to Nerul regularly).

That is indeed true. In fact, when I last trained for a half ironman, I have done 80-90 km just by doing a combination of WSF (Worli SeaFace) and NCPA to Teenbatti loops. If you throw Bandra sea link / BKC into the mix its really easy hitting 80 - 100. It’s just that both MD and WSF have become absolutely horrid conditions with all kinds of road works, EEH is similarly horrid as is WEH. Which is why for an occasional ride a Sanpada start is still tempting.

Hayek, I’m sure its just a matter of putting a little bit of time into it. You have run 42 kms not so long ago - cycling 100 will actually be an easier effort for you in comparison, once you train for it.

I almost missed the meet thanks to you. I was looking for a blue bicycle in front of the Decathlon but couldn't see any. Hesitantly approached the professional looking group half expecting them to ask, "What TeamBhp?"

Here is a pic of the professionals with their lean machines

This is exactly what I told these guys when they were casually talking about their 100+ km escapades.

Re: Team-BHP Cycling Meetup Thread, Bangalore

This is an excellent thread. Kindly advise some 'noob-friendly', 10-50km trails in south Bangalore on a road bike.

One look at the roads and traffic in Bangalore should be enough discouragement for anyone, but not for you brave-hearts apparently.

I do see some routes on strava, but this is a a more personal setting.

Re: Team-BHP Cycling Meetup Thread, Bangalore

Anyone from Pune? We can co-ordinate in making a similar meet like this. Pune regulars are usually found at Roopali, Vaishali, Sambar or at Vohuman in the early morning hours of the day.

Looking forward to have one for Pune.

Good to see a cycling group forming in Bengaluru. Though currently I am in Qatar, I stay in Sarjapur Road. Would love to meet up with you guys once I am there. Till then Happy Cycling!!
