Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Yesterday (June 18th) I took part in the annual B2VT ride for the first time. B2VT stands for Boston To Vermont. Every year the organizers choose a different destination in Vermont. This year it was the Stratton Mountain resort in VT, starting from Bedford MA, a total distance of 142 miles with 9500 feet of climbing (228 kms / 2900 m)

There were more than 400 riders who started this ride, making it my biggest ride so far in terms of rider participation.

The ride had 5 rest stops and 3 major climbs, with the last one being the sucker punch. The rest stops were quite well stocked, quite luxurious compared to the Brevet stops with PBJ sandwiches, water, gatorade, energy gels, pickle juice, fruits etc.

As for the ride, it was a tough one. We had constant 15-20mph headwinds all the way, combined with all the climbing and a bit of rain towards the end made this ride one for the books!

Such a scary moment.

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Completed successfully the IAS Devotional Ride Pune-Pandharpur-Pune over the last weekend (18th & 19th June). Total distance of 466 kms was covered in 2 days, Saturday & Sunday.

It was not planned. On Friday morning got a message from friend that one of his colleagues has dropped from the ride and if I would I like to join in his place. He had checked with the organizers and they confirmed that, I can come in place of his friend.

Day#1: I started at 3:11 am and reached the destination at 04:44pm (moving time of 09:09 hours & elapsed time 13:31 hours).

Tremendous energy and Josh, singing bhajans, slogans of "Jai Bhavani-Jai Shivaji", poems during flag from Bhakti-Shakti @ 04:10am. There were almost 1000 cyclists. Getting outside Pune city, Hadapsar while it was dark was a blissful experience. Road all throughout from Hadapsar to Pandharpur was super smooth. The nutrition and hydration points planning was superb. 100% marks and many thanks to IAS volunteers for making excellent arrangements.

Day #2: I started at 04:13 am and reached destination at 07:17pm (moving time of 10:32 hours & elapsed time 15:04 hours)

For return ride we were around 150 cyclists. Rest had put their bikes on the back of cars, trucks, buses etc. First half of ride was quite pleasant. After Tembhurni it was quite hot. But major obstacle was very strong headwinds, couldn't cross 15 kmph many a times. Finally from Uruli to Hadapsar, encountered maddening traffic.

Overall very happy with the ride, my longest ride ever. Bike performed flawlessly. Legs were not tired after the ride but my left hand has gone numb and functioning only with 50% efficacy (cannot tie my calf button with left hand. Hope it gets better in the coming days. Also got a lot of sun tan on my legs, but I am not complaining.

Average speed of today's ride 19.2 kmph. Top speed 56.5 kmph. There was a light rain last night, which made the roads just slippery enough. Last Sunday's downpour was less risky for us.

There were some climbs before the descents and some after. You can guess that from the elevation gained. So the average speed of the overall ride is not so high.

The Image Stabilization is awesome on the Cam.
Which GoPro model is that ?

Also while the slope may be an awesome ride.. I can imagine the return journey must be killing on the non stop climbs

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Finished my first 100km ride yesterday. Learned route reconnaissance is a big factor in cycling. I was previously riding 70 to 80 kilometres on different routes. This time for 100km ride picked a familiar route albeit with a small detour for around 25 Kms. God I was so wrong doing so. That 25 km stretch was a complete upward gradient. Even though I have climbed hills earlier, the distance of such climbs were less and I also get turbo boost on return leg of climbing down.
But this 25 km upward gradient and the long distance started to drain me down and after 90kms my thigh muscles were almost feeling like they might give up any moment(Just felt so). But mind was all in for finishing the ride and I soldered on to complete that first century. Need to plan with altitude data also taken in account for future long rides.

Congratulations on completing your first century ride VishJ . I can understand the first one is always special and you feel on top of the world. Now that you have broken the mental barrier triple digit rides from hereon would be quite comfortable.

Thank you. As you said, breaking that mental barrier is definitely giving out even greater push to do longer rides. On another note, Congratulations on your new bike. It looks super sleek and I wish you a lot of miles with the beauty.

Water fall on its own, maybe due to gravity and road vibrations.
