Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Hello Folks,

This maybe a long shot but to need to try though.

A friend was involved in a small accident and his carbon fork broke.
This is a Cannondale Synapse Small size cycle.

If anyone has any pointers on how and where to source the front fork assembly for the above bike, please share.

Please note - repair is out of the questions - need to either find a spare or if someone can manufacture one?

Cheers.

Sorry, I meant Lungdai...

I saw Sakawrhmuituai rest stop / viewpoint there... so I guess you were headed in that direction.

In-laws' new place is just above Muthi, btw...

Presently living on a very chilly north-facing slope in Chaltlang...

Repairing a carbon fork is flirting with death so good you are not thinking in that direction.

In the old days you could get decent carbon forks on Ali ... a friend fitted the same on his Scott road bike after a crash. Very happy with it. Looks very nice too.

Currently you will need to import a Synapse fork from Cannondale abroad. They do not exist in India anymore.

Or import an aftermarket carbon fork. Chinese.

Cheers, Doc

So on the climbs do you ride mostly out of the saddle especially on the last up's or just keep a steady pace on the granny gears ?
I have changed the brake pads just a few weeks ago. Front brake pads was finished while on descent of the previously mentioned Nelly Durtlang Climb Mizoram.

On the steep part I go with 46T:23T, while my thigh and leg muscles last, mostly off the saddle. When the leg and thigh muscles get tired, I go with 30T: 23T or 30T:26T, alternating on and off the saddle. I hardly used the 30T, 36T on the rear cogs.

Anyway, we should meet up next time we're out there...
We should definitely meet up next time. Right now, I am presently in Durtlang, at my in-law's place for Family Dinner

Early morning chilly and foggy ride. One of the best scenic rides till date. Superb route.

Started from Kothrud at 5:50am and back by 10:30am.

Nice ride there and superb pics maverickxx2006 The early morning fog and the hills around this route are mesmerizing. This is also one of my favourite routes. But you must have encountered the maddening traffic of Uttamnagar, Shivane, Warje-Malwadi etc during your return. That's the only sad part of this otherwise pleasant ride. One of my dream rides is to do a loop of the four dams, Temghar, Lavasa, Panshet & Khadakwasla. This is just over 100kms with starting and end point as Mutha village. But first I need to explore the road condition (may be on a motorcycle) and only then decide whether it is doable on a cycle.

Yes the ride was simply mesmerizing. One of my best rides. The scenic route, morning chill, fog and clean air. Pure bliss.

And then, you enter Shivane, Uttamnagar. Pure madness.

Well the idea of this four dams loop is good!

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

After the Sahyadri Classic event held during Nov-21 end, I didn't get a chance to go on long ride for almost a month and a half & I was desperately looking forward for one. Fortunately today with the company of my friend, both of us ventured to a place called Khandi and do a loop of the Thokarwadi dam. The loop itself if around 70kms, whereas the distance from my home to the loop starting point was approx 34kms. So 70+34+34 = 138kms was the distance covered in today's ride. The route had many twisties and full of climbs. Fortunately almost 99% of the road was well laid and smooth. We encountered very few bad patches. Sharing few pics below from the ride.

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

Nothing of note but something funny happened today. Not sure if it is seen in states other than MH so please excuse me: collided with a eunuch today who was stopping every vehicle and asking for money at a defunct toll-booth!

Must have been a new one because I am a local legend of that route and today was the first time he/she won't let me pass and did a blocking movement which ultimately resulted in my front wheel going over their foot and handle bar hitting right in the gut.
Another eunuch from next toll lane (a pro probably) yelled at this noob to not to stop cyclists but it was too late. Thankfully I did not crash and as I recovered I yelled "Amachya kade paise nastat!" meaning "we don't carry money"

Be careful out there. My average dropped below 28kmph because of this.

I uploaded my first ascent YouTube video on another thread - The Bicycles thread. Do check it out. I have done multiple times after that. But I find it very difficult to improve the timings.
Not sure how you manage to ride those slopes. I still remember it was a challenge to drive a 4 wheeler in those inclines as the engine would get hot. Though I used to be in my teens when I was driving those slopes and was a learner . Hats off to you for riding bicycles in those inclines.

Hey AutoIndian,

These are amazing pictures. The ride looks nice, 138 kms is a lot considering the elevations.
