I haven't yet tried a racing bike yet, but I'm sure the weight drop might give me some boost with the average speed. |
Thanks. 21 is a good speed for MTB, those are heavy and short geared. Absolutely, cycle weight makes a difference. This one is ~9.8kg. Now, I have to reduce my own weight to match her :) Also, this has taller gearing 52:11 which also helps.

Restarted the romance on Saturday with a 24km ride on NH4! Did the same route again on Sunday, and then again on Monday and then once again today.

Wow, impressive. I count myself lucky if I manage 50km in under two hours. The best I have done on a 50 km run was almost 27 km/h average. Just came in a fraction under. Very frustrating!
Keep it up!

Looks like the RC500, the 520 has a dark blue shade, I think

I think the ride is 24 km long only and not 50 km. But still an excellent avg speed. I myself try a 28 km ride but the best I could achieve was 28 kmph.

You are correct. For some reason I read the time in minutes/seconds as distances. As they say a mature moment. I’m having lots of those these days!

Thank you. It's BTwin Ultra 700 AF.

Thank you. It will be a dream to do a 50km ride at this pace. 27kmph is nice pace for a 50km ride. I know how it feels when Garmin shows 26.9kmph. Ouch :) I have experienced it many times!

Yes, this was just 24km. 28kmph is also pretty good. Lot depends on the route (hills, flat, speed breakers, potholes)...

My bad, I should have been clearer...happened in the excitement of crossing the 30kmph barrier :)
I have a itch of cycling from quite some time and lock down came as a perfect reason to bought one.
Got myself a very basic starting model of BTWIN MY BIKE HYBRID CYCLE from decathlon just to check whether i will be able to keep up with my routine of cycling and may be later on an upgrade follows.
I have few queries, after a week of cycling on my humble steed.
I find that the handle is placed a bit low and due to that I have to bend a bit more which in turn is not comfortable though manageable. Any suggestions ?
Any recommendations for Front/Rear Bike light.
Currently I'm using Adidas app for documenting the daily biking stats. Any other application or device which is better and should be used.

Congrats, the mybike is a VFM mile muncher :).
It was possible to raise the handlebar (quill stem) on the mybike without any additional stem raiser. Not sure if that is still the case with the newer models. From your pic, it seems to be suspiciously low. The one on mine is taller and looks like in the ones shown on the Decathlon website. Take it to Decathlon, the mechanics should be able to adjust it for you. As for the app, Strava is very popular with cyclists and runners.
Hey guys! I'm on the lookout to purchase a new bicycle and have a budget of around 15,000 give or take and want the best one I can get. I basically want to ride it in and around my neighborhood for a good exercise.
I live in Kolkata and there are majorly car free by-lanes behind my house which give me a good couple of kilometers in total to cycle in.
The road is filled with potholes and bumpers and I'd personally prefer an MTB with Suspension, in the front, definitely, rear too if possible and gears 7x3 21sp and front and rear disc breaks.
I really need a larger size cycle since I'm 6ft tall and have large feet. 27.5 or 29 inch tyres are going to be my preference along with a larger size frame.
I have shortlisted the following:
1. Frog viper x 101 27.5 Rs 16,500
2. Montra madrock 27.5 2019 17,000/ 29 2018 17,000/ 29 1019 19,000
3. Frog leopard 29 Rs 16,000
4. Frog panther 29 Rs 19,000
5. Firefox Creed 27.5 17,500
6. Hercules Roadeo fugitive or hardliner 27.5/29 all models around 14,000
Hoping on your learned suggestions to help me out!
Regards,
99octane

Why not consider a Fat Bike? I am also 6.2 and big built. The fat bike is very comfortable to ride. Not like the racing bikes whose tyres are thin and one feels every bump.
Mine is a large frame Bike. Rides on 26x5 fat tyres. It is called LA Sovereign ROCK 5.0. It is quite a monster.
Most shops in Bangalore have run out of stock (this month). My cousin wanted a bike but returned back disappointed. You may see a bike you like, but not get one in your size. so in case of any plans I suggest the bicycling community to head out and book. Post lock-down people are flocking to two-wheelers.

I disagree.
Folks should buy a cycle like they are buying a 2 or a 4 wheeler. Unless this is destined to be kept in the garage (lol). They should test-ride the bike, even if for a short distance only. See if the frame, weight and overall bike setup is comfortable.
Stocks are low, so yes, a choice of one's bike preference in the size, components and color one wants might not be available always. Or the shop owner might not be ready to even discuss/negotiate on the price, which is then a different call to make. But I'd suggest to wait for a while than booking/buying any similar specced model.
Hi you misunderstood. I'm not advocating a bike that wont fit. I'm just saying that 'in case you want to pick up a bike, now is a good time since stocks are running low'. I see a new thread to this effect too. Besides, my friend in Delhi was talking of another lock down, (not sure of its veracity).

How much did it cost you? Online it's showing a 36000 rupee mrp.
I have a small budget of 15k lol:
