We have a huge parking lot near our home and in typical American fashion its almost always empty, except on Sundays.
Every Sunday enthusiasts from nearby come there with their beautiful vintages. Chromed and polished looking as if they just rolled down the floor of dealership. They then set up a camp, hang around, sometimes even barbeque and just have a good time!
I have been going there and clicking pictures from my mobile but where's the fun in that? Mobiles cameras don't do justice to artistic pieces like this and you can't change my mind. So today I went with my MLC and a prime, mounted on monopod to take pictures. Lot of effort post processing them but I think it was worth the time spent?
Its summer and temperatures have been through the roof but nothing stops these guys. Almost everyone is super friendly and LOVE to talk about their proud possessions. The knowledge they have, the efforts they have taken (sometimes years finding the right part) and the continuous maintenance they do, its worth listening. I wish I had a "drive" like this!
While there is no rule what you can bring as its not a car show per se, overwhelming majority is of classic American cars from Chevy, Ford, Mercury etc and some rarities like Studebaker and Lafayette. In fact I had never seen a Lafayette before today. Coincidentally, the two Studebakers were my absolute favorite. The one in teal color was breathtaking.
Anyway, without further ado here are some pictures from today. If you click on them you will see a much bigger and better version:
The green car is a Triumph TR4, red needs no intro.
Chevy El Camino
Loved the wheels.
Ford Falcon.
A Corvette Sting Ray. Quintessential car for such meets!
A Lafayette
Classic Mustang. No car meet is complete without one!
A beautifully finished Impala.
Just look at the rear overhang on this Mercury!
Studebaker Commander in a modern Nardo grey
My favorite of the lot, Studebaker Commander in an incredible colorway
Interesting window there
Another well known classic, Camaro Z28. Superb deep red on it.
Hotrods. Earth shattering exhaust note!
Can't get enough of this car.
A cute Chevy 3100 truck. Pictures can't do justice to the color.
Chevy Bel Air. Whatever happened to sexy car names?
The way boot opens up on this Bel Air
Adios!
