Re: My Pictures from Scottish Classic Car Shows Hi KPS,
Re American cars in Scotland, as new vehicles were always a rare sight from as far back as I can remember (mid-1950's onwards).
Ownership is a mix, young guys and older dudes like myself, so there's no specific demographic of the type of owner. Nowadays, whilst classic American cars form a noticable presence at shows, they're still very much in the minority mainly probably due to the fuel consumption and our very expensive fuel costs.
This isn't helped when the UK government basically withdrew the availabilty of 4* petrol in the UK and all that was left was low-octane unleaded. However in England there was still a very limited number of petrol stations that sold 4*, but in Scotland we got nothing! So, there's the high fuel costs and many of us have to add octane booster to provide 4* sparkle and lead for valve lubrication.
Oh yes - and the love of 'Rock & Roll' is essential. |
