Dad has just returned from Canada/US and he was telling me this amazing story. He went for a 60 mile drive in a 1937 La Salle in Toronto, Canada . The owner who is 84 years old was driving the car at 70 miles on the highway! This was one his most amazing moments. The owner also has a 1930's Packard Roadster which he had taken to Pebble Beach many years back.

Here is beautiful 1947 Chrysler New Yorker as seen in Elora, Ontario, Canada. Some interesting trivia is that Elora gets its name from... surprise, surprise ... Ellora Caves !!

Elora was founded in 1832 by Captain William Gilkison, a British officer recently returned from India. Originally called Irvine Settlement, the village was renamed Elora when the post office was established in 1839. Gilikson named the community after his brother's ship, which was itself inspired by the Ellora Caves near Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India.

Found this immaculately maintained 1955 Oldsmobile parked at a Tim Horton's here near Toronto.





The owner was a friendly old gent who was wearing a t shirt that had the picture of the car on it!

It is a 1961 Chevrolet Impala 2 dr hardtop. This particular model is also known as 'bubble top' . Not many bubble top survive as the original production of this model was in limited number. I submit picture from the net of a similar car showing its full glory

On my recent visit to Srilanka we came across a few vintage cars.

To our surprise we found a Rolls and a 230 Mercedes in a Buddhist temple Gangaramya







During one of our pitstops for Ceylon tea, we came across a group of enthusiasts on their way back to Colombo from Nuwara Eliya, about 214 kms. It was nice to chat up with them. We followed them for sometime down the ghats. Sri Lanka strictly follows traffic rules and it must be pleasure to drive here.

This early Austin in our Hotel Mahaweli Reach, Kandy


This Wolseley 18/60 had come from Colombo for a weekend rally and was loaded for the return journey. Had an opportunity to chat up with the owner, Dilip Hensman. This is an annual event at Nuwara Eliya where they do some small time racing. Cars included a few Mini's, Moke, Isabella Borgward, few later Alfa's, Jag's etc
