Re: Accessory shop: Konark (JP Nagar East End, Bangalore)

Any idea if this outlet is still in existence and if anyone has availed their services recently and if so what has been the experience.

Need a few interior accessories for my EcoSport such as floor mats and other mods for fog lamps and would preferably look for an outlet in South Bangalore. So other options are also welcome.

Re: Accessory shop: Konark (JP Nagar East End, Bangalore)

Got a dash cam and floor mats and few other accessories few days back. The next gen., has taken over and not as friendly and accommodative as the dad who is there but has clearly taken a back seat. Product availability, quick professional installation was very good, would rate 4/5. But I think now has become pricey, same mats I paid 5K are available for 3.5K elsewhere, and dash cam online is much cheaper, though one has to DIY and for dual dash cam is a bit of a hassle. Over all will try to explore other options for future requirements.

Re: Accessory shop: Konark (JP Nagar East End, Bangalore)

Bad experience at Konark:

Had been to this place for 1. Hardwiring and tucking in the rear camera wire into the boot panel of an already installed dashcam and 2. Hardwiring of auto dimming irvm. This was for my Xuv700

At the onset the person refused to give me a price for the work till he opened the panels to fuse box - his rationale was he can only tell the price after opening the fuse box and see how much work is involved. Total BS because I know for a fact that these guys have done multiple dash cam installations and one of my friend was there just a few weeks back with his 700. I played along and after opening the panel he quoted Rs1500 and I negotiated it down to Rs1000.

The person doing the work was just not in a mood to listen at all - he was continously refusing to use the fuse locations that I had noted from tbhp threads and was asking him to use and instead kept pushing for using the ones related to main components like immob, pke etc. and passing sarcastic statements like this is not your Maruti 800 and you dont understand etc etc. After seeing me not react or budge he went on probing the fuses with a sharp axcer blade with other end connected to a light and trying to prove that power is not switching off etc. I let the circus continue and at the end insisted on using my fuse points and he reluctantly did it. None of the fuse taps were crimped and I let it go - by then I had lost my patience wit him and was in a hurry to get out of there!

When it came to grounding the irvm wire he spliced the ground wire of dash cam, inspite of me asking to avoid any splicing, and connected it there instead of running them seperately to the bolt.

The guy working at the rear camera was struggling too and was using a steel wire next to airbag without a care, to route through a simple panel - end result even his work is half done which I realised after coming home, the wires are dangling at the window as shown in the pic and he hasnt left enough length to tuck in!!

Final bill was Rs1450 - 1000 labour and 450 for three fuse taps. In between the owner came and asked the guy working to hurry up without even a care to check on the work that was being done or the customer standing there! Paid Rs1500 was given 40 as change - insisted on full change and left never to be back there again.

This place is best avoided for any work involving electrical/panel removal - their tools are basic, handling and workmanship is very average with a poor attitude.

Will be redoing the whole thing as a diy one of these weekends.
