Re: PPF, Coating & Car Servicing - Krithi Car Care (near Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore)

Absolutely inexcusable criminal folly. I fail to realise how these people sleep soundly at night after fobbing people off their hard earned money.

If ever you need to restore vehicles again, suggest you seriously look at restorers in Kolkata. There are some very knowledgeable folks who does excellent restoration jobs of cars as well as motorcycles. Considering the amount of money you spent, even if you factored in the to & fro trucking costs from South to Eastern India and back it would still be 50% of what you paid.

As I said earlier in the post, I tried several MASS including Mandovi motors which we were using for several years before we changed to FNGs due to the lack of passion in MASS. All they cared about was billing me higher. Though I had long years of relationship with Service Managers at Mandovi, they never seemed passionate enough to work on older cars which drove me to look for FNGs.

IMO when paying such a price, the expectation is also equally high. A roadside garage would have done this for a lesser price, but again with compromises on various areas including fit and finish etc. But with an organised setup like this, the expectation must also be higher.
Thank you for sharing my grief and rage on this note!

We made the exact same mistake when "restoring" our beloved Zen and RX135.

The Zen was supposed to undergo a straightforward repaint, but the folks at Bimal pushed for a semi-complete mechanical restoration. Fast-forward four months, and they delivered the car with pathetic paint quality and in worse mechanical condition than when we had handed it over.
This reminds me that, when I was dropping my 800, I even told Krishna that I would leave my Zen with him for a full body painting after this. And with this act, he definitely lost my business forever! His greed itself killed it!

I had no issues driving/sending my car to another city if I was in India. I considered Brotomotiv in Pune. All this happened in my own city - if I sent it elsewhere, I think it would have been a logistical nightmare for me to coordinate with India/US times.

OT for this thread and I apologise but could you please name a few of these restorers?

Sad state of affairs. I wonder if such garage owners are taking undue advantage of software professionals in the city. They might be assuming that IT folks would lack time and/or would have very little automobile related knowledge, therefore could be misled easily.

Re: PPF, Coating & Car Servicing - Krithi Car Care (near Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore)

I know a great paint restoration guy locally here in Kerala. The best thing about him is that he will refuse to accept works that cannot be done properly by him. Also he insists to charge only for painting related works. All other works including removal of panels, lights, beadings, seats, mechanical works etc.. will have to be done by a mechanic trusted by the owner.

The painting restoration of a car like Honda Jazz only costs about 40000. Additional payments have to be made separately to the mechanic for their part of work.

It is always better to not give false promises and back them up with lies.

Re: PPF, Coating & Car Servicing - Krithi Car Care (near Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore)

Have gotten my i10 nios machine polished and then ceramic coated from Krithi a few years ago and they did excellent job (pic attached, removed humans).

PPF, Coating & Car Servicing - Krithi Car Care (near Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore)-i10-nios-ceramic.jpeg

The last time I went there the owner was telling me that they couldn't get skilled workers. Could be the case. But it all seems unfortunate to say the least. Has the quality gone down now or is it a case of them taking on more than they can chew?

To the expert folks on this thread, I'm considering a PPF job for my new black BE6. Should I look for another detailer other than Krithi? And if yes, are there any examples?
