Mod Note: Team-BHP's Datsun GO+ Review has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the review thread. Thanks!
The 2014 Auto Expo saw the debut of Datsun.
Datsun had already announced their hatchback, the GO in July 2013 to be followed by the GO+ mini MPV, both of which were on display. Apart from the GO and GO+, Datsun revealed a new concept, the "redi-GO" in a world premiere.
Datsun GO+ High Points:- Sub 4 metre 7 seater MPV
- 1.2L 3 cylinder petrol engine borrowed from GO and Micra
- Same wheelbase as GO hatchback
- Will be launched in Indonesia first, followed by India
- Expected second half of 2014
Front is identical to the GO hatch:
Side view shows the extra length but believe it or not this is less than 4 metres @ 3995mm:
Hexagonal headlamp styling stands out in the otherwise conservative design:
Dashboard is identical to the GO hatch:
Pull type handbrake harks back to the 80's:
There's no real audio system. You plug the phone in using an Aux cable and it plays the music through the door speakers. The USB port is only used to charge the phone:
Gear lever is mounted on the dash to make way for a middle seat in the front:
Basic instrumentation but you can see a gear change indicator:
Glove compartment does not have a cover:
Basic door pad design with bottle holder. The doors themselves felt very light and reminded us of the Omni/800 when closing:
Unique front seats with middle cushion is hardly usable due to the limited width and seatbelt:
Middle row seats offer good space but....
The front seat design makes rear passengers feel boxed in. Note manual window winders at the back:
The third row seating in the GO+ is strictly for children. Even a short adult will not be able to sit here due to lack of space and headroom. The seat base is also very very low. With the seats up you lose complete luggage space:
Cost cutting evident on all corners:
155/70-13 tyres are really small:
Indonesia will get a 1.2L 3 cylinder petrol motor similar to the Go and Micra. Hopefully for India, Datsun gets the 1.5L K9K diesel from the Micra:
This strange battery had us wondering initially, till we realised it was a AC-Dc converter:
Single wipers with dual arms to cut costs:
From left to right, OBD port, bonnet release knob and headlamp leveler. When you pull the hood release knob the entire dash moves as well:
