Re: Jeepster's Armada

as the armada was not in use that much i didnt saw any problem with fuel gauge.

which was showing full tank when empty & empty when full.

Check and ensure that it is a regular unit.
so opened the tank to check the sensor which was OK.

after comparing it with other armadas sensor it the problem was solved.

electrician said to buy a new sensor but i thought what the hell another rs 300/-

after thinking for a while finally solved the issue by bending the float rod, as shown by red arrow.

& now the meter shows (approx ) correct reading.

What is your observation / thinking regarding the Tatamobile wheel discs (new type 16 " ) wrt suitability to armada & the offset
they have 160 pcd

Or the army 550 discs ( remember we discussed the change in pcd )

yes we can use them, as they are made for the PICKUP so they must be strong.

also i saw force trax kargo king rims which IMO should be 16" & trax aslo has 160 PCD.

so now we have following rim potions .
  • scorpio 6.5J 16" (LP1105)
  • Thar 6.5J 16" (LP1199)
  • mm pickup 5.5J(?) 16" (heavier than thar/scorpio rim)
  • force trax 5.5J 16" (rated for heavy load)
  • tata 207 5.5J 16" (rated for heavy load)

Re: Jeepster's Armada

@Jeepster - The Armada looks cool, though it takes a while getting used to the taller tyres. How does she drive on tarmac after the tyre change and how is it in mud/sand?
Nice progress and keep it up. I am glued and want to see the final outcome!

i have driven jeep with 6x16 cross ply tyres for 10+ years so it feels awesome to drive on cross-ply again.

the steering has become light as compared to 215-75-15 redials.

the grip on dry road is OK but wet road they become like EGG on Teflon coated pan.

also they make sound like a loaded leyland truck, which i feel is the best feature of them. L O L

air pressure is 28PSI front & 30PSI in rear.

BTW they are 200% paisa vasool product as every where i go people look at the tyres & then at armada then at me...

update.
installed old type front indicators as i dont like the ones on the fenders.

solution:
fit it with only one nut-bolt.
Jeepster's Armada-dsc05229.jpg

installed a new fuel lock.
as i did not had a key for it.
but had to do a little mod to fit the fuel lock.

Re: Jeepster's Armada

Though the Tyres are looking a little puny in terms of width, but the stance after fitting these is so purposeful. Your Armada looks all ready to get down and dirty.

How is the on road performance of these tyres, in terms of Ride, Braking etc?

Re: Jeepster's Armada

Drill your new holes using a drill machine!! none of my last 3 rebuilds would have completed without a hand drill machine.

I have a 'Skil' one, 550W, whole set (machine + 9 bits) came @ 2K rs before 3 years. I installed the same indicators on a 540 yesterday using a drill, AFM's would never fit snug direct on a OE spec position!!

thanks.

i will suggest to buy a jeep & build it according to your likes & dislikes, just like Enfields.

yes they are narrow, are 6 1/2 inch wide (lug to lug),

i would love if the company makes a 10inch wide tyre.

the tyres are ok on the dry road.

they skid twice than radials.

i dont have any problem as i have driven my mm 750DP with only one brake effective brake on the front right tyre for a year.

if you have driven a jeep with cross-ply tyres then you will not have any problem.

yes i have plans to build a small workshop with all the tools needed for the build.
from s set of spanners to welding / grinding machine, etc.
