Thank you so much.

I have 2 in the line up as mentioned here with pictures & the 3rd one in line. Well again the question of how original they are remains to be answered by you sir.
Hopefully 3 should be a good number for us to shortlist & bring home one.
Will take 3 days vacc. from office & meet you in the city of Nawabs soon. :-) - Me and Santosh will call you and keep you posted on the dates sir.

@Catchkumar, this reminded me of a post from Tanveer on another thread:-

With the quality of craftsmanship in Hyderabad you never know what you are upto. Only trained eyes like UBS, BD, Fazal will be able to comment better.

Re: A CJ5 for Bangalore ? -- Is this a good buy

Catchkumar , the Green cj5 sure has some Hyd essence . You can check the Rear mudguard <inside> Of the jeep for any welding joints of the body , this cannot be concealed. Put the jeep on a ramp and check the chassis inside out to see if you can any support given , this is usually given by adding a small chassis piece of 8 to 12 inches long to reinforce the chop and weld job of the chassis.

There is one more way to know if its a real short, now lets see if the so called gurus can answer that here.

Fazal sir.... didnt all CJ5's came with FFRA??? So my bet is on a CJ3B or some old CJ LHD class converted to a CJ5

While Gurus can comment on the originality of the jeep, why do i have a feeling that this one and the parrot green coloured jeep have been done up in the same garage! Looks like Hyderabad has a flavor of the CJ5 series jeeps.

Here two kinds of Jeeps are considered in the list when it comes to Jeepers hobby the Low Bonnet i.e.,

1. (Ford MB, Willys MB, CJ2a) there are originals (petrol), semi originals (body original but dieselised) and non originals (reproduction).

2. The CJ5 or Cj7 other words Kaiser or American (Locally called) these jeeps are the most preffered and popular. The pricing is somewhere from 4 to 6 lac, as far as originality is concerened there I am no good to narrate than Fazal saab, for confirmation please check his comment below.

Santosh,
This is definitely an original, with minor added stuff like rhino hook set up on front, meters, snorkel etc. Possibly the rear axle too could be a swap.
8.5L non negotiable.

Fazal Saab,

The sand colour CJ5 looks good. But isn't it the petrol hurricane engine?

Cheers

Anirudha,
Yes it is, Hurricane also was OEM on CJ series.

Chanu,
That is very well explained.

Re: A CJ5 for Bangalore ? -- Is this a good buy

Hi Fazal sir,

From my observations i noted a few points which makes it look like a done up job please correct me if am wrong.

1. The fuel filler section doesn't look original from the finish of the outer rim.
2. The Roll cage in original CJ5 seems to be almost in the center (In between the collapsible roof rod holder plate & the V section which holds the same when upright) & it doesnt seem so in this Jeep.
3. Under the bonnet the back of the headlight unit or the entire unit seems to be replaced.
4. Inside - This Jeep must have been changed to RHD & again to LHD as the glove box is on the same side which shouldn't be the case.
5. The glove box in original CJ5 / M38A1 began from the bottom of the dash this however seems to be slightly above.

The image below has dimensions of a CJ5 chassis the image quality is bad but this is the best i could get - Not sure how different it is from a CJ3A / CJ3B willys or ford GPW.
If they are different then this will help in figuring out the originality.

I might be wrong with the limited knowledge i have from pictures & internet sources please feel free to correct.

Regards,
Kumar
