excellent buy
I had seen a Pajero(SWB) on the super car and imports thread of Bangalore.
you should take inspiration from that car and try to model your car on that.
It would look out of this world.

Mileage ? Will take me a while to answer that one. The tank is 92 litres, so it is not going to finish in a hurry (I hope). If I get around 10/litre I'd be happy.

As for the pick up - it's adequate for a vehicle of her size & weight, never found it "under-powered", ride quality is great, all around it is independent suspension.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have not seen that thread & honestly inspiration is not something I am seeking as of now. I find the Pajero looks great as it is right now. I only hope to add 2 Hellas on the bumper & that'd be all for now.

Cheers

Oh ya BTW, I want to put in some AMP or VOLT meter so I know if the battery is charging how it should.

Any reasonably priced stuff available ? Any pointers fellas ?

Also want to put up some hellas 1000's 2000's or even 3000's- what would be a good source & a reasonable price for the genuine ones..

Cheers

Hey Ricky
For the hellas you could always try out Bharat Cars, Karol Bagh.
I currently do not have the address but will try and get it if you are interested!!!
I haven't tried or bought anything from him personally but know some people who have and also spoken to some shopkeepers in karolbagh, All of them speak good of him.
Cheers

Mileage Update

Got kind of when I tanked up today. Seems like I am getting a glorious 7 kmpl !! Will wait for another tankful to tankful - this is with 100% A.C on & city driving.

Is this kind of mileage normal for a Pajero ?? This is the lowest that I have got out of ANY vehicle so far (Diesels)

Hope I improve the mileage, maybe I still need to understand the gearing (I hope) LOL LOL

Cheers

This figure was always optimistic; fresh Indian Pajero's give 9 kpl in an Indian metro. Considering your vehicle is much older, I'd say 7.5 - 8.0.

You really don't need to keep a constant eye on the amp meter. As long as you get her regularly checked up (battery charging included), you are all set. Such a meter will look out of place on your dashboard.

You can try International Syndicate in kashmiri gate, they are official distributors of Hella (listed in hella india site). The 1000's will be approx 6-6.3k i guess. Next series is around 7.5-8k range.

Funny; the rear looks spacious than the one I have been in. And yes, the interior looks very very neat.

Well as all my cars have given more mileage than most other peoples' I was being "optimistic"

Guess you are right. I did not intend to put a Volt / Amp meter on the dash. If at all it would sit on the A pillar in a pod

Looks super clean.
Thanks - sure is !!

The Pajero is now going for a "bumper to bumper" check & refurbish !! It drives great (as per me), but I know there are things that need attention.

Shall keep this thread updated. This is NOT a restoration, but general maintainence !!

Operation Pajero starts tommorow. Presently Mr. Speedsport is busy driving the Pajero around & putting notes down as to what needs to be done.

Update shall follow !!

Pajero Update !

For starters the Pajero's diesel pump is going for re-caliberation as she had developed this smoking habbit that I did not quite approve of !! also the nozzles are being looked into.

Next in line would be rubber bushes, and other suspension parts, front & back, which are showing signs of ageing. Though I personally found the ride perfectly acceptable, but pot holed roads did ruffle her feathers every now & then.

Whatever parts need to be replaced, will be replaced. It will be bought back to factory specs, bumper to bumper. No actually she is going to need an extra pair of eyes errrrrr driving lights , so that is not factory spec then !!

Small squeaks & creaks here & there, etc etc will be looked into & corrected. All lubes will be checked and topped up or changed.

It may even end up with fresh footwear !!

All this inspite of the fact that she still drives well. But then you want her like factory, you gotta go thru all this drill.

Will keep updating.

Cheers

Keeping with latest in eye glasses - vari-focals - so go with distance and near lights at the same time. Two pairs.
