Where to source Gypsy Spare Parts

Hi,

My MPFI Gypsy is going through a restoration in my home town, which will be complete by this week-end. The Gypsy doesn't have an accelerator cable and I haven't been able to buy one. I had tried at MSM Okhla and GAPL Okhla but no luck :-(

GAPL sold me an accelerator cable (Part no. 15910M83000) but it turned out to be for one for Carburetor Gypsy. Today I again went to them, and they were confused about the part number, there are many parts with the same name. In the end, they concluded that the part no. is 15910M830A0. But this part wasn't in their stock and they will take a week to get it.

This means delay of one week in my restoration plans, which is already delayed a lot due to the registration issues :-(

Also when I checked this particular part in the Maruti part list on t-bhp, I found many parts with similar names like -

15910M80010 S CABLE ASSY,ACCELERATOR G
15910M83000 S CABLE ASSY ACCEL W
15910M830A0 S CABLE ASSY,ACCELERATOR(4 VALV W
15910M83F11 S CABLE ACCL- AT (4 VALVE-MPFI) W
15919-81A00 S GUIDE ACCELERATOR CABLE(4 VAL W
15910M83010 S CABLE ACCELERATOR W

Please tell me which is the one for MPFI Gypsy - 2002 model; and where can I buy it? I am stuck really badly.

Cheers

GAPL are supposed to be the biggest spare parts supplier in Delhi and they hardly have anything in stock :-(

Gypsy spares are a problem sometimes. For example in 1999-2000 timeframe, we required a 1.3 carb clutch plate, and had a real tough time locating one!

ntomer, your best bet is to take the existing cable and scout around the parts market with it.

With a new Gypsy, i dont think you need to worry about spare parts for a long, long time.

That's the biggest problem. Mechanis in home town have thrown the earlier one and now I do not have anything to refer to.

I expect the army service centers / police service centers will have spares. I really wasn't expecting to see this post!!! Right after booking a new Gypsy

Spares are a problem? I have a horrible sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach now. Guess I didn't do my homework like I should have !!

Ok...what is done is done.

If I need to order spares ahead of my Leh trip - which parts will I need (most critical) to stock up on?

I'm surrounded by vehicles with poor parts supply - RD350, Karizma and now the Gypsy. Sorely tempted to go buy a Splendor

Dont worry its not that bad either, for the trip ideally carry all rubber pipes for radiator and brake, cables (clutch/accelerator). Lubricants and fluids. Apart from puncture repair kit and spare bulbs. This should be good enough for a brand new gypsy.

Jaggu Bhai, it is indeed that bad. I am not in any remote corner, I am in Delhi - and today I scouted Mayapuri and Kashmiri gate - the mecca of spare parts and couldn't find this cable.

Apparently there are 4 types of cable for Gypsies -

1. for MG410/MG410W
2. for Carburettor MG413W
3. for pre-2003 MPFI MG413W
4. for current MPFI MG413W

I was able to get accelerator cable for the current MPFI MG413W but it won't fit in my 2002 MPFI MG413W. I am attaching a pic of the one I bought. In this end A is round whereas end B is cylindrical. In the one for 2002 MPFI MG413W, both will be cylindrical, with end A being slightly smaller that end-B.

Now another issue is I don't know it's part number, so can't order it from GAPL, Okhla. If I can somehow know it, they will get it in a fortnight.

I am ay my wits' end. Please help me/give some pointers.

Harjeev/Amar, will Rahul (Motorcraft) have it? Please give me his phone number.

Nitin

New Gypsy wouldn't give you any problem and do not worry about spares, if by chance anything happens, Leh city is full of Gypsy's and getting spare will not be a issue.
Just carry basic things if you need list PM me (typing all items is headache)i can PM you.

Are you learning how to fix them all? Or do you have someone driving with you who knows?

Hi,

I managed to procure the accelerator cable (it's part no is 15910M830A0) from GAPL.

I have also bought the spare parts manual for MPFI Gypsy. If anybody wants to know part number of anything, just drop a PM to me :-)

Cheers
