I think only 100 of them were sold to civilians before they scrap that plan.

Coincidentally, just a few days back I discovered a civilian Jonga with a person in Salt Lake. Ugly mug, but much larger in the flesh than I expected .

Will try to get a few pics next time I visit him.

Tbhpian Gurkha owns a Jonga with Hitachi carbs fitted. You can get in touch with him for tech tips, if any.

wow. now we can see 3 Jongas offroading side by side in next OTRs... (after restoration to the respective owner's taste)

BTW what year they are from? How much for a single Jonga?
They are really big for a SWB offroader....

Hi,
This restoration will be interesting.

Long time back had a Jonga. Ran it for quite a few years with the original petrol engine, then a couple of years with a J6 diesel. Ultimately scrapped it. (The reason for dieselising was that one of the conrods felt too confined and decided to see the world outside the block)

Awesome power. Awesome reputation. However, in my eyes at least, did not match up to its reputation. I preferred the CJ3. Maybe because we could never lay our hands on proper spares.

The people who are interested in 4x4 also seem to be interested in bikes. They'll understand when I say that our Jonga used to run like an RD running on Karol Bagh spares!

Best of luck with your enterprise.

Regards
Sutripta

Maybe you could check out with member Abhilashn (Team-BHP), in case you havent already. He should be able to help you all with the restore, since he seems to have done a lot of groundwork already as part of his restore.

All the best on the restoration . I will be keenly following this thread. The Jonga (Nissan Patrol 60 or P60) is one awesome off-roader.
Thanks for the information mate will look into it.

Two NRI's will be getting ambulances and you might have heard stories about ambulance jonga from swastikviji.
OT: I am going to hijack the tyres for my Jonga.

One idea for the ambulances. Cut out that body aft of the B pillar and simply install a flat load bed from a Tata 207 ( you should get new unused ones from autobody factories for less than 10000) and convert the Jonga's into offroad pickups, obviously with a short overhang.

Will look goegeous, like mini trucks
Thanks, we have ideas in mind only execution requires.

WOW !! Congratulations to Swastikviji, Sha and Star_Aqua. The vehicles look Beastly. Very nice buy.

Hey Vijay, now maybe you would sell the 4WD set up from your CJ to me for a throw away price . My jeep is looking for kind hearted donors for its 4WD transformation.

Congratulations! Will follow this thread, Hope you people are planning to keep the Petrol engine. Its very easy to tune and highly potential engine, Only downside is its drinking habits. Many people will throw the Petrol engine, which is sad.

BTW! please don't shy away to mention the price, It will only help other prospective enthusiast.
