I m quite obsessed I think...
Saying that the 3 cm difference between the left (which is higher) and the right (which is lower) is apparent to my eye.
Though it doesnt affect the handling at all, it is irritating because I want it just right.
So what I will do is to drive it for a while and then go and get the right side rear leaf cambered to 7.5 inches instead of the present 6.5 inches and thus try and compensate for the 3 cm difference.
Else the vehicle feels and sounds pretty nice for a 15'year old Gypsy.
And of course I shall wait for the engine metal conditioner to 'bed down' slowly and coat the innards nicely.
Hoping that the compression will register a palpable increase making it feel like a 'tight' new engine over time and lots of care.
Smaller changes like new battery and wiper arms and blades can happen over the next few weeks...the next big step is await the NOC and re register the vehicle.

Until then let me just enjoy the drive in the classically plain and understated looking White Gypsy!

Couldnt resist sharing this pic of the Ashoka Sthambh decal in brass, bolted onto my Gypsy Radiator grille along with my old favourite, the AASI Badge.

Hey Shankar,
I don't think it is allowed to put on the Ashoka Sthambh on civilian cars.
Please check once. Maybe am wrong.
Cheers,
Deepak

The Ashoka Sthambh is available on Amazon as a brass decal for Royal Enfield bikes. Hence I bought it.

After all I am a proud Indian and will certainly use this decal on my car.

Frankly I think Im better qualified to use this than those blighters of Politicians and MLA's and other beasts...

Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Met a smart young bloke in HSR today when I went to top up air in my elderly Gypsy's tyres.

Saw this gorgeous Gypsy parked by the side of the road when I was passing.

Exchanged a big grin with the owner then U turned and went to meet him.

There's clearly an unspoken brotherhood amongst Gypsy people just like there is with Jeep and Land Rover Defender owners!

Just look at his Gypsy! It is hot alright!

Ironman Suspension
ARB Electronic front hub locks
Limited slip differential
Monster off road tyres on special off road Alloy Wheels
Complete Headers set up (full pipe)
Snorkel
Off road bumper
Custom flat FRP hard top covered with a gore tex kind of canvas.
LED headlamps
Huge foglamps
Neon painted bull bar
All this is very tastefully done and not over the top like some other Gypsys I have seen.
This is a 2015 Brand new Gypsy done only 5135 kms on the clock.
What a sound!

It seems all these additions and modifications have cost him about 3 lacs odd over the price of the brand new Gypsy. So we are talking nearly 11'odd lacs on road. He did also say that these monster tyres were uncomfortable for normal
on road driving and were very tough to turn. He also said the ironman set up was pretty bumpy and uncomfortable for on road driving.

Took a couple of pics of his Gypsy with his permission. Exchanged numbers with him and he also said he and his pals jazz up Gypsys somewhere in Hebbal. He apparently lives in Sadashiv Nagar and was just passing by when I collared him!

Then I made him start my Gypsy and twiddle with the 4WD lever too. He pronounced it fine for a 15'year old though he did say I need to change my engine mounts to new ones and thereby remove the vibration when the Gypsy is started.

Else he said the engine was smooth and no trouble.

He also said that the right side of the Gypsy may hang marginally lower on account of the front and rear differential being mounted off centre and towards the right side. He did say not to worry too much about the 2-3 cm height difference between the left and right rear side.

But looking at this lovely jazzed up Gypsy gives me a pang!

Wonder whether I should have also thought a bit more and bought a brand new one and done it up!

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Hi Guys,

I need to improve the interors of my Gypsy. I want to make the interiors lively. Hence decided to paint the dash as the first step. What color would you guys suggest. I don't want something over the top. I want something subtle and different.

Today appears to be Gypsy day alright.

Bumped into the owner of this HP registered Raid Prepared 2009 King, who lives in my neighbourhood but whom Ive actually seen for the very first time today.
I ve been seeing this Gypsy almost daily on my early morning doggy walks for the last 5 months!

Finally met the owner today!

Nice bloke - he's put a Baleno 1.6 engine in it and Baleno bucket seats too. The vehicle sounds good.
And monster size Yoko 235's.
It has the depth measure gauge and all the rest of the off road ready stuff including
Snorkel etc.

I made him also start my Gypsy and rev it a bit.

He also pronounced it good for a 15'year old and had the same suggestion about the engine mounts.

I went to Popular Autombiles and asked them to order me a complete set of engine mounts, transmission gear box mounts as well as the transfer case differential mounts.

Should reach me in a week or ten days at which time I will perform the operation on my beloved Gypsy.

A spot of soft-mud-roading somewhere near Kanakpura village. Around the hillocks and mud plateaux near the Chamundeshwari Temple.
Just to exercise the 4WD system a little bit.
The 15 year old Gypsy performed flawlessly and even kept up to the upper end of the speed limits on the NICE Road.
Next time I must try the Hessarghatta grasslands ...

Not sure what exactly do you mean by "ramp up" here but you can try Sri Raksha Motors at Sarjapura Road. The proprietor - Sardar - is an ex-MASS guy and arguably the best Gypsy expert on this side of the town. You can reach him at 98455 36909. You can give him my reference - Rahul, the guy with a new white Gypsy.

Hope this helps!
