The matador 307 aka. Benz OM616 engine got a huge sump or vertically taller than the rest of Jeep engines (International DI, B275, Pugeot XDP 4.9, Pugeot XD3P), so this prevents the 307 to get fitted on the Jeep chassis otherwise they will hit the front wheel crown housing causing damages to either the differntial or the engine sump.
I had a bad experience with the engine in the past breaking my engine leading to major expense.
OM616 could be installed in a 2WD vehicles and not good for 4WD jeeps that are available.
Also you need to consider one more fact that there is only one suitable 4WD gearbox available for this engine that too from Trax Gurkha or Trax Judo vehicles and getting them on the market is near to impossible. I have used an adapter plate to accommodate the 307 engine with T90 3speed gearbox but they are not the right match and lots of issues as the 307 is high speed engine and T90 or KMT90 gearboxes are not produced for this engine. Adapter places also can create disaster when you go for real offroad.
SIMPLY ITS NOT WORTH THE EFFORT
