Work is going bit slower than expected because of current situations.

Amazing thread. Can't wait to see the finished product. Also can you share some information about the other jeep spotted in one of your photos. Does it already have this modification in it?

That one is my 550 ISZ , it was with 2.7V6 petrol engine and coilspring suspension, because of the strict traffic and automobile modification laws implementation , I made it back to stock with its original 1.8 isuzu petrol engine and GB and leaf spring suspension and original Roplas HT.

This is how it looks now

Then I took that V6 engine ,GB and suspension setup in to my gypsy and made it for extreme competitions with RFC spec.

Can't agree more!

Certainly a commendable job! Reminded me of my time working with Team Predators Racing.
Designing and implementing such ideas and seeing the outcomes as expected instills an intense level of satisfaction and happiness. Thanks a ton for sharing the process with such great detail.

Because of Covid restrictions in my place work was stopped for a while. Now we started the engine and the front and rear steering control GB design finalized and given to a gearbox manufacturer at coimbathur. By this month end will get the gearbox and testing begins.

Re: The Outlaw - An IFS IRS track jeep with rear steer

It's been almost 2 year since I started this project. The vehicle was at Gudallur for making custom steering gearbox but got postponed by the mechanic with different reasons finally I decided to bring it home and fabricate the Rear steer steering box myself.

Sreejesh, you are probably the only person that's left in Team-BHP who still tinkers his jeeps. Please dont stop updating these threads.

Also, if you are planning for more extensive mods, you can use the new Scropio N front CV's. Will handle more torque.

Re: The Outlaw - An IFS IRS track jeep with rear steer

Decided to change the Rear steering plan to hydrolic steering with control union from tractor. Removed the old rack and pinion and steering rod linkages.

Hydrolic arms fits perfectly , have to make new brackets to fit it.

Besides no parts, weird CMVR regs, hostile police, con men in so many auto shops in India, no expertise easily found...well, there are a few obstacles to "tinkering". Look at the beginning date on this thread for one kind of proof.

North America has a very healthy and large off-road community. You can find hundreds of off road flicks out on YouTube and elsewhere. Automobiles are a fetish in North America. There are many drivein restaurants, drivein stores, drivein movies until dawn when the same drivein theater becomes a drivein church.

But one of the newer "moneyed" crazes in North America is the RESTOMOD business. "Restomod" is a new contracted word from "restore" and "Modification". There are now many shops that take old SUVs and turn them into like-new or better than new vehicles. One of my personal favorites is the Chevrolet Blazer, an early SUV about 25-30% more massive than a Toyota Fortuner. You can easily put a huge 200 to 600 horsepower V-8 motor in one of these...and take out bank loans for the fuel fill ups. Below is one such shop just outside Detroit. The presenter is just a sales guy, not a techy. There are similar shops for off roading and a huge aftermarket for all kinds of 4X4 gear.

Be very wary of using rear steer using front CV's. The torque demand will be very high in the rear and with steering turned the CV's will be a very weak point.

The primary deterrent is the legality of the builds. You spend so much time, effort and money and the least that you expect is to drive it. If you are not able to do that, whats the point of all these.

Re: The Outlaw - An IFS IRS track jeep with rear steer

Fabrication of linkages for front rack continues , collected almost all star joints and steering columns from my scrap and found a suitable one . Did some re arrangement of joints and finally got the perfect one for the job.

Steering box design still in search for a perfect ratio.

I am using this tractor hydrolic union for rear steer dircetion of steering control shaft is not a problem , by changing oil out I can change the direction .
