With the new engine this car will be more difficult to resist. It would make it easier for people like me to justify paying the higher price. There is no denying the mechanicals would be impressive. And if the bodywork and interiors are decent then they just might do significant volumes for the car

guys, I am in the market for a SWB Trax MUV. But it seems they do not manufacture Gama in SWB in any more. I was given quote for 9+D Gama which I presume is the LWB.

Are there any options in SWB ?

And is it worthwhile to go for a Gama + PS+AC or a plain Jane Gurkha without PS and AC. Tell me what to do ? My budget is around 6

There is no plain jane Gurkha or LWB Gurkha, I think your dealer is talking about Gama, not Gurkha. That is not surprising, most Force dealers haven't even heard of Gurkha, it is the Gurkha buyer's job to educate them.

Gurkha comes in SWB only, with AC, PS, 4WD, diff locks and BSIII engine. The only choice you need to make is soft top or hard top.

And yes, it is way out of your budget for now.

BTW, Gama comes only in LWB, and you can't get it with A/C, PS and 4WD combo.

What kind of use do you intend it for? Do you plan to offroad often? Or you just want a MUV? Why the SWB?

If you desire a hardcore offroader then the Gurkha is it and its presently about 8.4 onroad Hyderabad for the softtop (with power steering no a/c)

The next best offroader in my opinion is the Gypsy just under 6 lacs

And then if diesel is important the Mahindra Major at 5.5 lacs

So apart from Gurkha, they have no other SWB MUV ?

Is that correct ?

Not so much offroad, but I will be using this vehicle in a place that regularly gets flooded, so foarding capabilities are desired. 4X4 is overkill and I also heard that Trax is coming out with new engine for Gurkha next year or whenever it is.

secondly the light weight of the Trax SUV also attracts me. Because even with 2WD, it will not get in trouble.

MUV as in multi utility vehicle needn't be a short wheel base. Why do you want a SWB? Unless you wish to offroad, then you can consider the vehicles I mentioned earlier

If offroading is not important consider the new Sumo Grande. I think that's a decent value for money MUV

MUV means from the Passenger MUV from the Force stable specifically. There is no SWB vehicle. I do not want a LWB vehicle.

...::: Welcome to Force Motors : Products Section :::...

As you can see there is no SWB on offer here.

If you don't want a offroader any reason why you wish to limit yourself to Force products?

Wow I'd think that's prime hardcore 4x4 country. You need the Gurkha in that case. And if budget is a contraint the Gypsy is the next best

PS Perhaps I misunderstood you. You meant flooding of tarmac roads? If 4wd is not required consider the Mahindra and Tata vehicles too. If its Trax you want then their standard Gama is an option. That however has a 2650 wheelbase as opposed to 2400 for the Gurkha

Based on you budget just try out all options from Trax, Mahindra and Tata. Test drive them and if you like something its right for you. Its a reasonable budget you have for a spacious MUV

Gama from Trax, Maxx and Bolero from Mahindra, and Sumo and Sumo Grande from Tata. Between these you should find something that fits your requirement. Some of these offerings may require you to stretch your budget

ok, I will forgive you for making such a statement about the Gurkha (just kidding, please dont take offense ).
I think you are not aware of the techical finesse or the awesome off-roading capabilities of this machine that is also known as a "Gurkha".

If you do not want a LWB and 4x4 is an overkill, lurker, then why are you looking at Force motors : there are other options which will satisfy your need for flood-water (as in flooded highways, and not flooded rivers) crossing : my suggestion would be an MM540 2WD. All other new vehicle choices are LWB only (Trax Gama/Sumo/Bolero). And all the other new vehicles with SWB seem to be with 4WD (Gypsy/Major).

But what has really surprised me is the jump in Gama price over 1 year. An year ago Samurai had mentioned during his Gama Test Drive thread that the base ver of Gama was coming to 4.65.

Quote:
Pros: Great ride, very responsive engine, apparently very good handler (couldn't test it though), cheap (the basic model is 4.65L)
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...trax-gama.html

Anyhow I shall be finalizing this within a month and most likely it shall be the Gama or Gurkha if I decide on MUV. And one thing I can promise is that I will be regular with the updates and reviews on every single aspect of this vehicle.

Force motors website update for Gurkha

Finally, the Force motors website has been updated with the info about Gurkha (though the "Download" link leads to the Gama spec sheet )
