Re: Thar Hardtop Design

Well every one doesnt have the same taste. i think few mods to this , the symmetry is lost between different lines, the vertical and the horizontal. few subtle mods can bring out the potential in this build. But i guess it cannot be changed now. will wait for the final product before giving my conclusion. good effort though.

Re: Thar Hardtop Design

manasm,
if your HT was 2 piece like the above, then yours get 90 marks while mahindra gets 10 only, 80 lost just for the exhorbitant cost. for that cost, the finish is not upto the mark.
best regards.

Re: Thar Hardtop Design

Horrible! Looks like an attempt to go in-line with Bolero. And its really surprising to see the lack of basic aesthetics from a so called 'proper customization' wing of a manufacturer!!
BTW, that 3.5 L cost is not only for the HT, it is for the entire customization i.e. Customizing a THAR to 'THAR-Adventure' Version. On a lighter note, looks like the customization group has already got some rich guinea pigs!

OMG! What were they thinking?!!! Just put a decent hard top with no bling and lights please!! It would really look better and in place!

Hi Spitfire,

Looks like M&M has moved from ROPLAS, to HOP(E)LAS

Would have looked decent minus the Disco-Lights at the back.

Arka

Arka,

The total cost of the above mentioned hard top arrangement will cost Rs. 2,50,000 + 12.5% tax = Rs. 2,81,250.

Close to 3L, whats your take on it?

At the rear...10 LED lamps bezel with 120 lamps inside, half the cost can be slashed here itself.

Well, the following also is their bottom line, followed by, if you need to write to them.

Flaunt your Attitude !!!!!

Not bad, considering that you get 8 multi-coloured LED torch-lights for free alongwith the hard-top. Those multi-coloured LED torch-lights look like imported stuff, hence, must be very expensive, hence this cost is justified.

I wonder if they have an LXXX version of this hartop, minus the multi-colour LED torch-lights. That should be really VFM.

Re: Thar Hardtop Design

From all of 'works of art' that are made by Mahindra Customization - only two words jump out 'Creative Overkill' .

To complete that 'Thar' - I guess the only color befitting would be pearl-gold.

One sympathizes with the owner of that monstrosity, seriously.

Given a second chance with my hard-top - I'd take the one made by manasm. Kudos on the work there! - Can we get some pictures of the finished product please?

Re: Thar Hardtop Design

@lugnut - will post them as soon as I have it...

been working all week and tomorrow as well - some issues with the fit (waterproofing) - need to sort it out...some leaks at the sealing surface with the body of the jeep.

If we seal it completely, there is a problem with the air being stuck inside and the rear hatch door does not close correctly.

It is really frustrating to be so close but yet not complete...sorry to keep you all waiting! But once complete, will make the Thar look like a real beast.

Am getting some fabrication done at the same time for the center console to hold a music system (with a cover), a lockable box and cigarette lighter (for charging my phone) as well as speaker pods for the roll cage so they are not on the floor.

Just waiting for the AC fit and will be all done with the mods...for now!

Trying to make the jeep as comfortable as a sedan! 'Maybe I should have just bought a sedan' is what people say to me - but it wouldn't be so much fun and I would not have anything to do with my free time.

Regards,
Manas

As Quoted by Manasm : "Trying to make the jeep as comfortable as a sedan! 'Maybe I should have just bought a sedan' is what people say to me - but it wouldn't be so much fun and I would not have anything to do with my free time."

i got infact retributions when i tried making my MM540 to be as a "sedan like" daily driver. Lack of creative worksmen, infrastructure and negative finances made me, drop out from doing a HT project on my own. manas, atleast you had the guts to do the HT for your thar alone...Kudos, congrats, salutes for the single minded attitude. my advanced wishes for a great HT on your beast. cheers.

Re: Thar Hardtop Design

It is a shame to see Mahindra's hardtop from their customization department that too at such a high price tag. Anyways this is what i came across yesterday . The owner lives nearby . I always appreciated this jeep whenever i passed by from that area but yesterday there was something different. It was the hardtop that is the new add on to this jeep. I couldnot believe that a hardtop can make so much difference and change the whole character to a jeep itself. It's a metal hardtop . It has proper rain channels(can be visible in the pictures itself) by the doors side. As you can see the fit and finish is very high quality. Next time i would try to talk to owner and would get some snaps of interior as well .
