The lock in GV refers to central diff lock. In the normal driving mode, it has limited slip differential in the center. When you lock it, it become like any other part-time 4x4 in 4WD mode. The front and rear differentials are always open and cannot be locked.

Electronic diff locks with traction control? No, the Indian GV doesn't have that. We have plain Jane open diff in the front and rear.

Actually traction control is nothing but automatic diff locks that are activated/controlled electronically.

I guess the big companies dont trust the judgment of its customers to handle the diff-lock safely or it just economics to avoid broken differentials under warranty!

Thanks.
