Audi @ Auto Expo 2016

Big shout-out to Anshuman & Eddy for their coverage and photographs.

2016 R8

It's been 10 years of Audi in India. Coincidentally, Audi is going to launch at least 10 new products in India this year.

The first one is the new (2nd gen) Audi R8 V10 Plus. Priced at Rs. 2.47 crores (ex-Mumbai & Delhi):
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-aaa_2412.jpg

There's a monster 5.2 liter FSI (direct injection) V10 petrol engine at the rear:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-aaa_2413.jpg

The R8 V10 Plus puts out 602 BHP @ 8250 rpm! Max torque is 560 Nm @ 6500 rpm:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-aaa_2414.jpg

0 to 100 = 3.2 seconds. Top speed = way beyond illegal:

Carbon spoiler & rear air-dam give the carbon side-panels company:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-aaa_2417.jpg

The "Plus" puts out 69 BHP & 20 Nm more than the regular V10:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-aaa_2418.jpg

Audi has managed to keep this engine naturally aspirated (awesome for throttle response) and improve FE by 13% (thanks to overall weight savings):

Low seating, stubby shifter, massive pedals, carbon accents:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-aaa_2420.jpg

The steering wheel has its fair share of cool buttons, from the engine start/stop to the switchable exhaust button below it:

Prologue Concept

Huge flashback to 2010, where Audi showed off the "Sportback concept" at the Delhi Auto Expo.

A few years later, we saw the Sportback find its way on to the streets, as the RS 7.

Wonder if similar fate will be in store for this Prologue concept? Perhaps an 2-door A8 to take on the S-Class coupe...

Re: Audi @ Auto Expo 2016

A4

The 2016 Audi A4 (B9) was also on display for the first time in India, however, this was the Euro spec car.

In terms of size, Anshuman said the interiors were not noticeably different to the A4 sold here. Style wise, they were similar to new Q7, with a 100% LCD instrument cluster like the new TT.

Sources say that the current A4 is still doing decent numbers (largely due to the discounts offered). As a result, Audi hasn't mentioned a concrete timeline for the entry of the new A4 (perhaps clearing stock of the old A4 first?).

Clean and functional interiors:

Textured steering looks fantastic:

The fully digital instrument cluster is extremely versatile and futuristic. It can show you traditional dials, a full map, etc:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-02-aaa_2433.jpg

The brushed materials on the interior look really classy, though might be a bit minimal for some people's tastes:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-04-aaa_2434.jpg

Audi's standard placement of the MMI screen... still looks like an after-thought:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-04-aaa_2452.jpg

Note the "drive select" buttons. Rare to see this functionality on the waterfall console (rather than near the gear lever):
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-06-aaa_2450.jpg

Stubby short-throw auto gear lever:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-07-aaa_2438.jpg

Probably the most used knob in the car. I like the unique and "hands-down" placement:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-09-aaa_2449.jpg

Qi wireless charging pad for your mobile phone. Note that there's 2 USB ports as well!
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-10-aaa_2443.jpg

Narrow bezel IRVM gives it a bit of that 'floating' look:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-aaa_2441.jpg

Stylish design for the overhead buttons & lights:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-aaa_2442.jpg

Alcantara doorpads look cushy:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-aaa_2446.jpg

Understated B&O audio components:
Audi @ Auto Expo 2016-aaa_2448.jpg

Single-zone AC control for the rear:

Space at the rear seemed to be relatively unchanged:

A look at the rear doorpad:

Re: Audi @ Auto Expo 2016

RS 7 Performance

The Performance version of the RS7 takes things one step further. It's powered by the same 4.0 TFSI twin-scroll turbo V8 petrol as the 'standard' RS7. However, power is bumped up by ~44 BHP to 597 BHP and torque is up by 50 Nm to a staggering 750 Nm!

0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

S3

2 doors, 4 seats & ~300 BHP from the 2.0L TFSI.

Quattro ensures that the 380 Nm of torque is transferred effectively to the road.

A6 Allroad

The A6 Allroad showcases a few upgrades to the A6 family. Namely, new engines, transmissions and headlights. The infotainment system is new as well. Of course, the allroad variant features higher ground clearance, and a stainless steel underbody protection at the front and rear. Adaptive air suspension is standard on the allroad as well.

Re: Audi @ Auto Expo 2016

TT

The all new TT still holds true to the original shape, first seen in 1998.

It's the closest thing you'll get to a budget version of an R8.

46 TFSI badge at the rear have you confused? Do check out the new performance-based badging (a.k.a. marketing-inspired badging) that Audi started using last year.

Re: Audi @ Auto Expo 2016

Audi's new design language "Let make all of our cars look more or less the same. Let's use as many similar parts as we can to save costs and increase margins. The concept of every car having its own individual persona can go into the dustbin".

Except for the Prologue concept there's hardly anything worth giving a look because wherever you look you'll see the same grille and more or less the same headlamps. As for the interiors, if you've seen one you can very well imagine what the others look like.

They haven't even spared their halo car the R8. The old one had a distinct front profile. And what's with the fixed wing at the rear, why not a self retracting one. Saving costs there as well?

Re: Audi @ Auto Expo 2016

Saw the Audi A6 AllRoad for the first time. Looks much more practical than the Q5 or the bigger Q7. Looks like a proper modern station wagon. Is Audi planning to sell it in India?

Is it just me or do the wheels on the R8 look similar to the Momo Revenge series?

They appear to be some sort of OE version of the BBS SR Design line

http://bbs.com/en/products/design_line/sr.php

Anyways on topic - The interiors of the new A4 look really nice IMHO. They've shown its possible to built tasteful, great looking, rich feeling interiors without an overdose of fake wood and chrome.
