Renault @ Auto Expo 2016

Big shoutout to Vid6639 for shooting these pictures & his coverage of the Auto Expo. Thanks for sharing, man!

An interesting pavilion - facelift of an important product, a bigger engine on another and some eye-candy cars:

Kwid 1.0L & AMT

The Kwid has been a game-changing product for Renault and the 1.0L engine will only widen its appeal:
Renault @ Auto Expo 2016-0.jpg

Obviously, this sticker won't be there on customer cars. The Kwid's 0.8L engine is too ordinary (like the Alto & Eon 0.8L). We hope that, like the Alto & Eon 1.0L, the bigger petrol changes the character of the Kwid. Renault says that the DOHC, 4 valves / cylinder petrol will offer good driveability:

Kwid Racer Concept

One of the best parts about the Auto Expo is seeing manufacturers having fun with modifications. The Kwid Racer is just that, having been designed at Renault’s studios in Mumbai and Chennai:
Renault @ Auto Expo 2016-1.jpg

This metallic blue looks sweet! Headlamps get C-shaped LEDs. Silver strip across the front is unique, yet stylish. Black bumper lip at the bottom:

Sick 18" rims with low-pro tyres. Black wheel arches though look out of place. Car would've looked awesome without them:

Big wing at the top and big diffuser at the bottom:

So cool! The name of every engineer who worked on this car:

Hey GTO, the rims look super awesome! Did you mean slick?
Also, I see they have all-round disc brakes
Although I know these mods are just for display, it would be great if they offer this as customization if the buyer is ready to empty his pockets

'Sick' is also used to refer to something as "very cool" or variations of such feelings.

The Kwid Racer looks absolutely bonkers. So much so that it is receiving international press coverage from reputed publications like Top Gear and EVO!

Re: Renault @ Auto Expo 2016

Yet another awesome coverage of a buzzing automaker of these times. Surely its exciting times ahead with some relevant and interesting products from Renault like the 1.0l Kwid and facelift Duster. Was waiting to hear more about the later.

The concepts for once are very interesting as well and with some practical ones on the Kwid range. Interesting space here.

Re: Renault @ Auto Expo 2016

Kudos to all the mods for making the Auto Expo "virtually" a live event for us.

I am in the market for a small automatic/AMT car and got really excited when I saw Kwid AMT. Did Renault give any indication when are they going to launch this car?

Renault Kwid Racer and Renault Kwid Climber will launch as special editions

Renault Kwid Racer and Renault Kwid Climber will launch as special editions, says Renault’s marketing VP.

Quote:

Speaking to IndianAutosBlog.com at the Renault Duster’s media drive, Rafael Treguer, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Renault India, said the response was positive for the Renault Kwid Racer and Renault Kwid Climber concepts.

“Yes, we showed those design concepts at the Auto Expo. During the public days, we also gauged reaction for those cars and everybody liked them,” Treguer said.

Would these cars then see production? “Absolutely. You?ll see them as special or limited edition models,” he asserted.

The Renault Kwid Climber concept, as per Renault, is a “born off-roader” with “high ground clearance, wide track, short overhangs and the specially designed pattern of its tyres.” It is mounted with big bumpers, protective mouldings on the sides, and ‘diamond-effect’ wheels, with a deep Flame Orange finish to the body.

The Climber is given an all-terrain feel, but that expression may not complement its off-road performance as an AWD system would be an expensive and unnecessary exercise for the A-Segment vehicle.

The Kwid Racer concept “conjures up the world of racing.” It has 18-inch alloy wheels, low-profile tyres, aerodynamic body work, bucket seats and a roll cage. Sporting a metallic blue finish, it has wide air intakes, spoilers and a diffuser. Inside, the concept is upholstered with Alcantara, aluminium and carbon, to be suggestive of the world of motor racing. There’s also telemetry data, a four-point harness, a digital rev counter and a leather-trimmed steering wheel.

The special edition Kwid Racer may get none of these features for cost and practicality reasons. A motor racing series based on the Kwid is the only way these features could be meaningful in the real world.
