2nd service & accessories update on my Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX

The ADV is 6 months old and has completed around 6,500 km

BHPian Full_Minchingu recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Coming back with a few updates:

  1. Second Service.
  2. A couple of accessories.
  3. Puncture x 2!

Second Service Updates

Odometer Reading during service – 3589 Kms.

Second Service charge – 1936 Rs.

Service Center – Saptagiri Auto Private Limited.

The trigger for 2nd service is 6 months from the date of purchase or 6,000 kms (whichever comes first). Mine had just clocked 3.5K Kms however, it was nearing the 6th month of ownership. Hence gave the bike for 2nd service.

This service was supposed to include an oil change and chain lube, but I received a call after leaving the bike at the SVC saying the front brake pad had worn out. Having had some experience in this forum with brake pad life expectancy, this news was not shocking to me. So, it was changed. My braking pattern is 80% front and 20% rear, so the rear brake pads are doing quite well.

All was well with the rest, no issues or concerns were encountered. Overall, I was happy with the service. The bike’s behaviour is much better in terms of smoothness and gear hardness.

List of Accessories Purchased

Paddock stand- For me, this is a much-needed addition. I lube the chain myself for every 400 – 450KMS and without the centre stand the job would be tough.

I explored a couple of options like Moto Jack and Ramp Groller, which had mixed reviews. Leaving these 2 options, I plunged into the Paddock Stand. Since I wanted to learn how to use it, I purchased it in person rather than online. It wasn't that difficult when I tried it myself a couple of times. Now I can easily use this stand without any problems. Cost – Rs 2750.

Tank bag and seat cover - The latter did not affect the bike's aesthetics, but the former did. While I wasn't in love with the look, I was willing to accept it when it gave me the advantage of storing essentials and handy items.

The seat cover was an added protection to the OEM seats, my neighbour loves cats and those cats love my bike’s seat. So, to protect it from the cat’s love, I have had this installed. Cost – Seat Cover + Tank bag = Rs 1000.

Lastly the puncture or rather 2 punctures at once

I am not sure when the tyres sucked the nails, but I witnessed it randomly during my casual look at the bike. Luckily there were no flat tyres during my regular rides, an advantage of tubeless tyres. I was sad to see 2 patches on the new rubber.

It's hard for me to imagine this plight on my previous tubed tyre bike, however, the best part is that my old bike did not get a single puncture during my ownership.

Puncture. Cost – Rs. 300
